Federal air marshals subdued a man who authorities say attempted to "light his shoes on fire" on a United flight from Washington Reagan to Denver Wednesday night, federal law enforcement officials told ABC News.

The suspect was identified by authorities as a diplomat in the Qatar embassy in Washington, Mohammed al Modadi. The FBI said the man had full diplomat immunity as the 3rd secretary and vice-consul.

It will be up to the government of Qatar to decide whether to allow him to be charged or not.
If they play the “diplomatic immunity” card, their delegation will likely be sent home, our delegation will be called home, and Qatar will go on the terrorist list and all trade between us will be shut down.
So likely he will be cut loose and charged with an attempted terrorist attack.
I guess since the underwear thing didn’t work, the Jihadis are back to lighting their sneakers, which didn’t work either.
