Republicans Against Repeal
The American Spectator ^ | 4-8-2010 | W. James Antle, III

Posted on 04/08/2010 3:48:53 AM PDT by Bratch

Well, that didn't take long. After Democratic supermajorities rammed through their health care bill, Republicans were full of sound and fury about how this injustice will not stand. Even John McCain was on board, telling a television interviewer, "Outside the Beltway the American people are very angry and they don't like it and we are going to try to repeal this."

But in the GOP, cooler heads always prevail. What these Republican heads want to cool down is the campaign to repeal the health care takeover. Reports the Associated Press: "Top Republicans are increasingly worried that GOP candidates this fall might be burned by a fire that's roaring through the conservative base: demand for the repeal of President Barack Obama's new health care law."

No shocker at all. The GOP has NEVER once repealed any entitlement program. Why should we expect them to work to repeal this one?

This story from the AP talking about TOP GOP people was out early on...and from what I recall, it doesn’t name names. In other words, it smells like propaganda.

Looks like we will have to start a new party. If GOP flops on this they are history. Time to stand for something.

"David Frum blogs about the Republican pedigree of some ideas in the Democratic health care bill
and suggests Republican snouts should have found their way to the trough
"

Frum and Team Romney threw Election 2008 by attacking Gov. Palin and her children.

Let's listen to them now [/s is this really necessary? ]

Your Republicans wanted this too.

If you don’t think so. Tell me how ANYONE in the Republican Party risked ANYTHING substantial to fight it.

Your GOP is selling you out, folks.

If you run to the polls in November to vote for these cowards, these co-conspirators, well, you deserve what you’ll get, comrade.

I do not give a damn what anyone says, even rush on this issue......the destination is socialism, and there are 2 roads, the express lane (democrats) or the slow lane (republicans) either lane you take, the destination is the same...the only difference is how long a ride you want to take

What bothered me was how quickly the GOP leaders adopted the 'Repeal and replace' mantra.

This law needs to be incinerated, not replaced. Obamacare lite won't cut it either.

Agreed! If a candidate is truly for repeal, run on it. (which I think most conservatives are) I refuse to say Republicans are for repeal, because, as we all know, there are RINO's and then are SUPER RINO'S!

Conservatives ONLY need apply!

True conservatives are not radicals; they respect tradition and work for stable reform to fix institutions."

An unconstitutional act cannot be repealed since it is not law. True Conservatives uphold and defend the Constitution against acts by any branch of government that is unconstitutional and against a tyrannical runaway government. Once again the OP(formerly the GOP) is showing its true increasingly socialist colors. They prefer to sacrifice the Constitution to advance their own personal agenda.

How anyone can rationalize and justify remaining in the OP wing of the socialist Republicrat party defies logic. We must hold their feet to the fire by demanding they uphold the Constitution.

Replacement doesn't bother me, as long as the replacement is something along the lines of the plan drafted by the Whole Foods' CEO.

The GOP doesn’t really give a crap about any of us, they only care about getting themselves elected, end of story. The D/R oligarchy must go.

I pointed out the same thing a few months ago about some of the so-called saviors of the Republican Party and got jumped on pretty good. If any of them had the same sense of urgency about how this thing would destroy the country, they would do a bit more than sputter and bluster on a few talking-head shows. You are 100% right, they are complicit co-conspirators in my book.

In 2006 that's were I drew the line on the LOTE vote. I will never vote for another rino. In this case it's where I, and we ALL should draw the line on republicans, GOP, and RNC. Either repeal this POS stealth health care thievery, or we're done with you!

Then thank God our Founders were not "true conservatives"

That's idiotic nonsense. They couldn't do anything to stop what the dems were doing legally. However, I see them try to do something now in the states and hopefully this strategy will end up being the best thing they could have ever come up with.

Personally, I would have walked out on the dems and fully let them own this thing until the vote and went around the country spouting HELL NO! Now that they have this chance in Nov to take over if they should and don't make it THE TOP PRIORITY to repeal the living daylights out of health care, that's when we go ballistic!

You betcha

They couldn't do anything to stop what the dems were doing legally.

Perhaps (it seems that way, but I'm not a lawyer and I don't know all the arcane rules), but we didn't even see a hint of civil disobedience from them. Other than Michele Bachmann, did any of them try to rally the people to the Capitol to protest? Did any of them risk their career by getting rowdy on the floor of the House or Senate? Did they stage a mass protest by getting up and walking out of the vote? Nope, nothing but them doing a "going through the motions" defense.

The Reps are trying to lull the Tea Party to go back to sleep, whether people want to admit it or not.
