I've been warned by my fellow survivalist/preppers that the phthalates referenced above also appear in the inside lining of canned foods and bottled water too. They leach into the food/water over time; it can't be prevented.
These phthalates have been implicated in a thing called Oppositional Defiant Disorder in children whose mothers drank a lot of bottled water. IIRC, lower birth weight occurred also.
