WASHINGTON - A Qatari diplomat who sparked a bomb scare after sneaking a smoke in an airplane's bathroom will be sent home or transferred to another country, U.S. officials said Thursday.
The officials said that as a result of his recall, the U.S. government would not take any formal action against the diplomat.
The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case, said they expected Mohammed Al-Madadi to leave the United States later Thursday or Friday in accordance with assurances given to them by the Qatari embassy in Washington and authorities in the Qatari capital of Doha.
"We fully expect this will be resolved very quickly," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters. Crowley declined to comment on the specifics. But other officials with knowledge of the discussions between U.S. and Qatari authorities said Al-Madid would be leaving the country and his departure would mark the closure of the case.
Crowley said the U.S. government is satisfied that the Qatari government is taking the matter seriously.

What would have been funny is if some college football team had been on the plane and taken him seriously. The air marshal may not have been able to get to him before he was in pieces.

Because he has diplomatic immunity the US under international law really can’t do anything to him. If it were a more serious offense all the US could do is pressure Qatar to waive his immunity.

“Obama takes care of the Muzzies........ An American would have gone to jail and also fined.”
I dislike this president IMMENSLY!
BUT,
The guy is a diplomat and has immunity from all prosecution except capital crimes (i.e. murder). We cannot blame this on Obummer. It's the system.
The Odude should hold a presser and make a point of this type of behavior as not being tolerated, but......

What would have been funny is if some college football team had been on the plane and taken him seriously. My sentiments exactly...Heck, just two or three large, male passengers..."Honest, Officer, we thought the guy was trying to blow up the plane. Otherwise we would've never beaten the hell out of him like we did."
