Iran says hikers have ties to U.S intelligence

(04-08) 18:15 PDT BERKELEY -- Iran appears to have hardened its position on three UC Berkeley graduates who have been held in the country since last summer, accusing them of having links to U.S. intelligence.

The charge, made by Iran's intelligence minister in an interview on state television, elicited strong denials Thursday from the U.S. State Department and the families of the prisoners, who were arrested after hiking across the border from Iraq.

It also struck experts as an orchestrated move in a high-stakes chess game between Iran and the United States over nuclear ambitions and other issues.

Here is a tip for you Hippy Leftists. Don’t travel to Iran thinking they are sane... Just settle with pictures and your own dreams of a peace loving Islam.

Us Conservatives will deal righteously with them.

The only “intelligent” thing the hikers can do is get out of jail and NEVER hike in, around, or by Iran again.

“three UC Berkeley graduates”
Don’t fear my happy liberal friends. If they kill you by cutting your infidel heads off in the town square while shouting “Bad Bad Hominy go” or whatever it is they yell. I will personally send Aberdinnerjacket a strongly worded letter of disapproval.

Three UC Berkeley graduates hiking in Iran? Not much intelligence there.

Our loved ones' continued detention and the psychological stress they are made to endure are unjustified and we again appeal to Iran to allow them to return home."

Sounds like grounds for a law suit. Put the Breck Girl on the case.

Our intelligence service wouldn't know who was involved with them.

I think they are CIA operators. The CIA always recruits at Berkley. I think if any Iranians monitor this site, they know that any so called liberals are just cover for CIA field operators. Oh, and they all draw cartoons of Allah humping goats.

I think they are CIA operators

This is possible, but with a muslin in the white house and pro-muslin agents in the CIA I have no doubt Iran would be tipped off. There was a day when you had a little bit of trust in your intelligence agency but liberal politics have infiltrated it.

I was being sarcastic in the hope that Iranians who might be reading our site will be confused.

I'm sure that these 3 are just idiot liberals that believed Omaba's bullsh#t and decided to be kewl and just "go to Iran" since they will love us now.

Something like the guy that loved grizzly bears...right up to the point that they ate him and his fiance.

Ah, the joys of being a pawn in an international chess game. Anyone hiking so near Iran who wasn’t ready for the possibility of spending some rather unpleasant time in Evin brings new meaning to the word foolish.

The question arises, are Berkley graduates really Americans?

Around Sep/Oct 2009, I posted an anti-Iranian regime comment, on an Iranian blog. The comment also questioned the backers of the Iranian regime (IRI) since its inception & the so-called Green Movement.

A person responding to my comment identified himself as a Former CIA field operative. That blog has since been closed. But the ex-CIA guy, according to his linked website, at the time, appeared to be genuine.

The mentioned ex-CIA dude stated that he was against mullah Rafsanjani because he agreed with my point that mullah Rafsanjani was corrupt. (info: Mullah Rafsanjani is the reformist/pragmatist/power-broker Iranian regime insider, who also was/is said to have, partly, financed the Green Movement “revolt” in Iran).

At the same time, this ex-CIA field operative was adamant that should mullah Rafsanjani decide to continue the so-called “revolt” in Iran, he would be doing a favor for his “compatriots” (meaning “Iranian Opposition”).

Long story short, in my mind, I had to question how STUPID and/or naive this self-professed ex-CIA field operative had to be to believe, or suggest, that mullah Rafsanjani would even dream of doing ANY THING positive for his Compatriots (and against the regime he is part & parcel of), if it didn’t involve a very good deal for himself, his daughters, and/or his Mafia clan.

I’m unsure how prevalent the calibre of the mentioned CIA field operative is today. But that particular encounter & that level of “intelligence”, imo, can only do harm to genuine Iranian opposition groups, the U.S. & the West.

"hippy leftists"

Back around the late sixties the then popular rock group Blood, Sweat, and Tears did some concerts in places like eastern-bloc Romania. When they got back to the States, they gave a press conference wherein they detailed their utter shock at finding out how despicable a totalitarian state was. Apparentely they and their fans were treated very badly by the Romanian police. Leftists at that time were fond of propagating the myth of Amerika the evil empire. So when they visited an actual leftist-run country, imagine their surprise. Hippy rock and rollers are the most naive people in the world.
