1867 Republican Party of Texas was founded by 150 blacks and 20 whites.
1868 Nathan Forrest, the KKK Grand Wizard, was the honored leader at the Democratic National Convention that year.
1870 The 15th Amendment was passed to insure the right to vote for blacks. All Democrats voted against it.
1871 Law passed giving the Federal Government the power to fight the KKK.
1876 Democrats in power again and pushing for segregation.
1893 Democrats had both houses and tried to repeal the 14th and 15th Amendments.
Many laws were also passed to keep the blacks from voting during this period like a poll tax, literacy tests, Grandfather clauses (grandfather must have voted), multiple ballots, hide-and-seek voting and gerrymandering, Jim Crow Laws (segregated areas) districts. This caused segregation to continue for about 75 more years.

1960 Kennedy was the first Democrat to really help the blacks.
1963 - Civil Rights Laws passed.
1964 Poll Tax repealed.
From 1882 1964 we had 4,743 hangings because of the Democrats and the KKK. Of that total we had 3,446 blacks killed and 1,297 white Republicans killed.
