How to Fight the IRS

Get ready for increased scrutiny by the Internal Revenue Service.

With Washington searching for ways to cut the budget deficit, IRS officials face intense pressure to collect more revenue. The agency plans more audits, especially of taxpayers in high brackets or those who are self-employed and deal in large amounts of cash. The IRS also has turned up the heat in such areas as offshore tax evasion, including undisclosed foreign bank accounts.

If you become an IRS target, what should you do?

For many people, the answer may seem simple: Surrender as quickly as possible, no matter how good a case you have.

There's a permanent solution to fight the IRS. It's called the Fair Tax Act(HR25/S296). It will replace all federal income taxes with a national sales tax and abolish the IRS! Fair Tax ping!

The best way to fight the IRS is to fire their bosses.

More will file short forms, less chance of being audited.

Elections haven't mattered one bit as far as eliminating or revising the tax code is concerned.

Unless we get rid of career politicians, NOTHING will EVER happen.

you post: “There's a permanent solution to fight the IRS. It's called the Fair Tax Act(HR25/S296). It will replace all federal income taxes with a national sales tax and abolish the IRS! Fair Tax ping! “

this has been building for years and the bill has more cosponsors than any other bill.

Now obyummer and gang are making it more and more imperative - and are making the case for it...

FAIR TAX = FREEDOM and the return of the our Nation to it's roots of “WE THE PEOPLE.”

Be careful with your tax preparer. The IRS has issued regulations that penalize the preparer, sometimes even more than the taxpayer. The IRS is using this to cause preparers to be defacto representatives of the IRS and not necessarily working in your best interest.

The problem is that they are threatening the preparer as they start the audit process. This causes a conflict of interest as they are now looking to protect themselves rather than your interests. I recommend that you consider using a CPA other than your preparer just for the audit process. Work with your preparer as this will serve to protect them as well. A non-preparer representative can often plead ignorance rather than disclosing damaging information.

As far as the foreign bank account disclosure. I highly recommend that you engage an attorney to handle these matters and they can in turn engage your CPA. Two, reasons: 1. There is no client confidentiality protection with a CPA as there is with an attorney. If the CPA is engage by the attorney there is protection. 2. The foreign transaction disclosure form is not part of the tax law and thus the CPA could be considered practicing law without a license by completing it.

I am a CPA, serving as a representative for our state CPA association with the IRS.

The biggest problem with the IRS is that 80% of their employees performing audits have less than 4 years experience. We CPA’s are tired of training them.

Collections agents are even worse. They are truly between a rock and a hard place. I feel sorry for many of them. They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t! Most of them are human and have feelings if you work with them rather than confronting them.

The best way, is to get rid of the IRS and institute the fair-tax. Anything is pure bullsh*t and a continuation of tyranny.
