Fred, look at 0 Sr.s face in the lei photo and in the bottom photo of the party. To my eyes it looks exactly the same except one seems a little darker than the other:the glow in the eyes, the light on the cheeks, the shape of the smile, way its positioned. Perhaps the bottom head was used to replace someone else’s.
You have reached a similar conclusion...that’s the reason I included the group image in my comment, I was wondering if someone else might see what I see.
There is a similarity, the tilt of the head is slightly different, but that might have been adjusted. The reason why one image is so clear and the other faded, I do not know...
Two scenarios come to mind:
If it is O Senior in that on the dock image, then the reason for the image manipulation might be we are not to know that OSenior, the young woman and Stanley Armour Dunham were all known to each other before O Senior arrived in Hawaii.
OR: The group assembled to welcome someone else - who probably supplied the original image.
