KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- A former college student charged with hacking Sarah Palin's e-mail account fears some jurors in heavily Republican East Tennessee could be dazzled when the conservative star testifies.

-snip-

Convictions on all four felony charges - identity theft, wire fraud, intentionally accessing Palin's e-mail account without authorization and obstructing an FBI investigation - could send Kernell to prison for up to 50 years.

"If I was the individual being charged I would be concerned, particularly the other party," East Tennessee State University political analyst David Briley said. "Politics and religion are pretty close to the vest here."

So are democrats going to boycott the trial because Palin will be appearing?

If chosen randomly, a jury should be half republican no matter what, right?

I would hope people would vote on guilt, not on party.

Remember OJ?

Really?

What I’m afraid of is that the cowardly little sh!t’s father is a Democrat slimeball legislator, with any number of corrupt, politically-motivated judges, sympathetic to his cause.

I think she should help obtain a conviction, then ask the judge to sentence him to unpaid community service, working in her organization.

This is an ignorant kid who did something malicious and stupid — but he’s smart, and spending a little time around the Palins would probably bring him over to the right side.

No, they'll joke about her being able to see Nashville from the courthouse steps. Then they'll trot out some loser who used to date her daughter. They'll whine and moan about how she's a lightweight and the jury shouldn't listen to her at all. They'll cite the National Enquirer to show that she and Todd are getting an ugly divorce. They'll call her a quitter and say that she was the only corrupt politician in Alaska, and she drove out all those innocent RINOs. They might even lie about her, big shock.

And then they'll lose.

I’m sorry, but that is the dumbest thing I’ve read in quite a while. He is no ignorant kid. He is a democratic operative who was trying to damage Palin politically. Hacking is a serious crime. Hopefully he’ll do about 5 to 15.

I hope the little jerk gets the full 50 years. That’s my hope. My expectation is that he gets off easy.

Really? I think he should spend 30 years in prison with his pants around his ankles bent over a bunk myself.

;-D

Just feeling lonely this morning and needing conversation. I figured I’d get some strong reaction, but so far you two are the only bites.

Hackers should be dragged into the street and set on fire after being convicted IMO. Hackers who do so for political purposes should be set on fire after very, very long prison terms.

It's jerks like this little creep who cost our economy billions of dollars every year with their pranks. I'm not normally much on medieval punishments for anything other than murder or rape but for hacking I'll make an exception.

Since this is not a federal rap, I think this future Democratis electic official has a pretty good chance of getting jail time. 12 to 18 months with probably 3/4 of the time suspended. if it was being handled by the federal justus dept. , he probably would never even have to appear. Kinda like the new Black Panther case.
But we shall see.

Sure hope you’re nowhere near Tennessee right now. I’d hate to see a vigilante FReeper in the pen.

Why would you say that? I'm merely opining on what I think the legal penalties for such behavior should be. Sentence his fruity little behind to 25 or 30 years followed by a righteous legal immolation.

Think of it as a firing squad with flamethrowers. What's not to like?
