ComRes for The Independent and ITV News put the Tories nine points ahead of their Labour and Lib Dem rivals - the biggest Conservative lead since March.

It shows the Tories on 35%, up three points on the last ComRes poll yesterday, while Labour and Nick Clegg's Lib Dems both slipped two points to 26%.

However, two other polls suggest support for the Lib Dems remains buoyant as the Sky News Leaders' Debate looms.

The YouGov daily tracker poll for The Sun puts the Lib Dems back in the lead, having dropped to second place yesterday.

It shows the Lib Dems three points up on 34%, three points ahead of the Tories who are down two on 31%, while Labour is down one on 26%.

Meanwhile Times' Populus survey gives the Lib Dems a 10 point increase since it last published results a week ago.

It puts Mr Clegg's party on 31% - one point behind the Tories who are down four on 32%, while Labour is down five on 28%.

:: ComRes interviewed 1,012 adults by telephone on April 18 and 19.

:: YouGov interviewed 1,595 adults on April 19 and 20.

:: Populus interviewed 1,501 adults by telephone on April 19 and 20.

That’s what they said in one poll. It appears their advantage is decreasing.

TBH, I wouldn’t mind the Lib Dems supplanting Labour as the second party in Britain. They may be woolly-minded leftists on a lot of things, but they’re pretty rock solid when it comes to civil liberties and basic English rights, which have been brutally assaulted by New Labour for the past 13 years....

Labour is the Islamo-Marxist party. They are thugs and criminals.

Hope and Change are only the modern euphemisms for Socialism and State Control.

0bama’s new formula or “brand” being used by communists to get them to “think” its something new only validates that point.

And the act is already wearing think apparently.

I would like to see UKIP take the lead over all of them.
The Tories have lost their lead because the voters know Cameron has been saying whatever he thinks they want to hear at the moment.
Cameron wants to be elected more than he wants to lead, and ironically, that is the very thing that is killing his chances.

Exactly right.

I won’t be voting ‘Conservative’ because they simply aren’t.

Unless things have changed a lot since I lived in the UK, the Liberals simply don't win general elections. They are almost always the third party.
However, the Tories are as wishy washy as they come, don't seem to have much of a backbone and the Tory leader is even an 0bama lover to boot. It's hard to work up any enthusiasm for such a guy.

Nick Clegg is a rock star? The man is an unvarnished Marxist! He says he would “break up the banks” and take a 10% cut of their profits until that was accomplished. that he can be in 2nd place just shows how finished Britain is as a nation.

Uh, no. Nick Clegg makes Brown look like Thatcher. If he takes 2nd place, the UK will have a Labor-Liberal government. Disastrous.

The Liberal Democrats are an odd bunch, with a left wing that thinks Labour has gone too far to the right, and a right wing that is more pro-free market than the Tories. As they are the direct descendants of the old Liberal Party, they are arguably the oldest existing political party in Europe.

Yeah and that is why the tories will only make modest gains. If they win enough to take control they will either differentiate themselves and tap into the reality and opportunity that the credit crunch presented them as a party to turn back some of the largess of the left or they will be back out of power rather quickly.

Their media are as “suck” as the American media.

Absolutely no mention of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), which is nationwide running 500 candidates, and which represents the only real opposition to socialist Labour, the lefty Liberal Dems, and the socialist-lite Tories.

But I suspect there is going to be a major surprise in this election. The Liberal Dems, who the British media are beating the drum for, are going to suck away enough of the Labour vote to neuter both parties. And while this means that the Tories are probably going to win big, it also means that there are going to be a whole lot of seats going to UKIP, from people who just cannot stomach the lameness of the Tories.

And UKIP is clear that it stands for principle more than just winning, so much so that it is not fielding candidates against sitting Eurosceptics in the other parties. This means that they made form a bloc with the more conservative Tories, to push out the meeching Tory leadership, and replace them with someone with character.

Schizophrenics should not be allowed to vote, much less sit in Parliament. The have the LibDems who aren't sure what they stand for other than not being Tories or Labour. We have the SNP and Paid Cymru, which claim to be nationalist but don't immigration and can't decide if they want a better deal from London or to become full provinces of Brussels.
Personally, I'd vote for UKIP. As for the BNP, I don't like corporatists, and I'm not even going to begin with their past or other policies.
