Talking to Pastor Ricky (with 2010 Texas Governor candidate Bill White-D)
Houston Chronicle ^ | April 23, 2010 | Joe Holley

...I'm sitting in the lobby of a Holiday Inn listening to one side of a cell-phone conversation between Bill White and Ricky Pfeil, an Amarillo minister...

White, sitting on a leather couch with a cell phone to his ear, is wearing a blue suit, a flamingo-pink tie and boots. Although I can't hear the minister's questions, I can tell that White is trying to keep the focus on education. He tells Pfeil (pronounced File) that Texas needs to cut its drop-out rate and make college more accessible.

"I'm not saying we ought to have a big government program - everybody who knows me knows better than that - but I do think our state needs to improve and it can't stand still," he says...

Later in the conversation, White tells Pfeil he's pro-choice.

"I have to admire his courage," the minister tells me when I get him on the phone a few days later. "We talked about it for three or four days afterward on the show. I can tell you, he's not well-received on my radio station, because this is a Christian radio station, and he supports the Democratic platform, which means he's for abortion and gay rights."

I mention that White's a longtime Sunday school teacher at his Methodist congregation. Pfeil's a congenial sort, but he's not impressed with White's Christian bona fides. "That doesn't go over very well with a strong Christian audience -- to say you're a Christian and then to be for abortion and homosexuality," he says.

Pastor Ricky, as his congregation knows him, tells me that most of his radio audience doesn't know much about Bill White anyway -- and that "Rick Perry's pretty popular up here, a lot more popular than Kay Bailey Hutchison..."

If I am not mistaken I heard Beck’s sidekick praising White on the radio show this morning.

The guy was hesitating to say he favored Perry over White.

What’s up with that???

Oh no, that’s exactly what he’s saying, he’s a Democrat-see how civil I am calling him a Democrat. Texans, elect this guy and just see what you get. He’s an Obama plebe and Texas will crash under his leadership just like the US is doing under Obama’s.

It’s Bill White’s “one issue”. He has said outright that “Rick Perry doesn’t care about high school students”.

This issue will not win him the state. Wonder what he really plans to do if he wins office (Gov or Senate).

White is a poor choice for Govenor candidate.

Governor “Rick” will beat him like a drum. Rick is not perfect, but the last thing the country and the State of Texas needs is another Obozo supporter as Governor.

Another Obama Democrat is trying to fool Texans like Obama himself fooled America.

How dumb do you have to be to fall for that ... TWICE??!?!?

Bill White is in the pocket of the teacher’s unions, opposes school choice, supports bilingual education which is ruining the education of hispanic ESL Texans, and lied about our history to make a partisan issue.

He’s a disaster on education.

If I am not mistaken I heard Beck’s sidekick praising White on the radio show this morning. Pat Grey is from Houston. Bill White, despite everything, did do a good job at handling the Katrina mess and Ike and people won't forget that. One can only imagine how badly all that would have been screwed up by former mayor Democrat Lee P. "Outta Town" Brown. The Rita mess was really something that no one could really foresee and a great part of the blame for that one goes to the idiots who freaked out and tried to evacuate when they were nowhere near a mandatory evacuation area. These idiots also did not have any clue as to how to get out of town without using a freeway. I was driving back and forth from Katy to downtown to go to work during the whole Rita thing and had clear sailing because I know how to get around on the side streets

White was one of those idiots that freaked out during Rita. He was the leader of Houston and responsible for keeping an orderly evacuation. He preemptively told citizens to evacuate Houston before low-laying areas in the "tier of evacuation plan" were evacuated. Not foresee??? What the hell?? Then he sure as snake-snot doesn't need to be leading the great state of Texas in any other unforeseen situations. He is a moron, and a fool. Let me remind you of the Hurricane Rita Deathtrap. It has his carbon footprints all over it.

Need more proof? His idiotic traffic management plan that declared all freeways tow-away zones... 6 minutes to clear your vehicle. Most expensive such plan in the nation. And a fiasco to-boot. Tough tow-nails if you were poor, pregnant, handicap, elderly, had a car full of kids, etc., you had 6 minutes to clear the shoulder and pay the $75+ tow fee. Stupid on steroids. Dismal failure.

Houston schools, ha! There's a success story. not. Drop out rate? closures?
You know those youtube vids of those Obama kids? Under White, expect more... here in Texas.

What about illegals? As mayor of Houston, he did what? right. nada.

He's a liberals liberal. And a buffoon.
