Best thing you can do with the NY Slimes is to line the bottom of your birdcage with it. Of course, before you know it, your bird will start shouting, “BUSH LIED! BUSH LIED!”

...that sheds not the faintest new light on the presidency of the author’s husband, George W. Bush.

No dirt, no scandals, nothing for the Slimes to twist against her and her husband. Such a disappointment for them. A first lady who has always been and continues to be a lady. She was proud of her country before she and her husband became a public figures.

Laura, with her great love of books finally got to write one herself.

Sounds like it might be a winner. Even the Times can't refrain from using the word "poignant" (although they did have to throw in the word "odd" so as not to be too complimentary).

“knows her place”

I am certain that this locution is the reviewer's own. I never, ever heard or saw any conservative say or write any such thing.

The problem conservatives had with Hillary was not her beliefs or her activism or her visibility; it was that she was an unelected official making policy.

I read in a review of the book that Laura suspects she and George W were poisoned at a G-20 meeting.

I suspect that I have a far higher tolerance for liberal clap trap than the average person who spends time on Free Republic. Nat Hentoff, Christopher Hitchens, and others are good writers and clear thinkers even if I often disagree. I can even handle Eleanor Clift, because no one does a better job spouting tghe Democratic talking points than she does. She makes me crazy, but she’s one source I trust to stake out an unvarnished Democratic position statement. (Of course, she should then be writing for the DNC and not Newsweek, but honestly, that doesn’t bother me.)

What I hate about the New York Times is that they are the paper of record and their writers are just pathetic. Truly pathetic. How can anyone, anyone, even the most leftist of readers, take these knuckleheads seriously? This is among the most transparently bad written works I have read in a long time. In the “this stinks” department, it gets its stiffest competition from other NYTimes writers, but please ... this is an insult to every reader’s intelligence. If I ever read the NYTimes, and I rarely do, it is to see just how poorly they treat the issues ... and I am never disappointed with how stupid they are.
