Sen. John Cornyn, Other Republicans Want Money Back from Gov. Charlie Crist

Now that Charlie Crist has left the Republican Party to mount an independent run for Senate, Texas Sen. John Cornyn wants a refund of all the money his political action committee donated to the Florida governor.

Cornyn, who runs the GOP campaign operation for the Senate, expects a number of Republicans to demand money back from Crist because they don't want his independent bid to be financed with party funds, The Wall Street Journal reported.

"People have already asked for their money back and I expect that to continue," Cornyn said Thursday. "I certainly will request the money I donated to his campaign from my leadership PAC back."

The conservative Club for Growth said it planned a campaign to get donors big and small to ask for refunds, The Los Angeles Times reported. The group led a similar effort in 2009 after Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter switched from Republican to Democrat.

Sue him for fraud. During the campaign he stated he would not run as an Independent.

They should have known not to trust him.

I wonder if Cornyn and the RINOs who support Juan Hussein McCain in Arizona....will ask for money back when McCain switches to Independent when he cannot beat Hayworth?

I feel for the small contributors who gave to Crist....but the RINOs who pushed him should be the ones coughing up the money....the NRSC aided and abetted Crist

Good. It's about time he started having to deal with the consequences of his own irresponsibility.

The GOP at all levels shouldn’t have funded Crist (or Arlen). Best to directly fund candidates rather than give $$ to the GOP.

I’m sure Crist considered all this before he made the leap, right? [/s] Maybe Obama will bail him out?

What didja expect?
RINOS are for RINOS first, last and always.
They are perfectly happy to tear up the GOP if given half a chance.

Cornyn’s an idiot for supporting Crist, and since he’s one of my (lame) senators I faxed him my views on his idiocy months ago when Crist was the front-runner.

And let’s not even discuss all the money this moron threw away on ARLEN SPECTER.

This tone-deaf ass clown ought not to have the reins of the NRSC.

I heard he was considering a pro-rated refund. Ha ! What a slime.

I drove by his little “rally” here in St. Pete last night. There were more people (police) on horses than Charlie supporters. Most of those who were there were family or from his luxury condo community, which is close- by. You could see them walking over. Maybe 150 people.

There were quite a few Marco Rubio people. Not once did I see a reporter show them or interview them.

The streets were lined with TV trucks. TV trucks give Charlie ogasmic feelings... he lives for the publicity.
