I had a friend who finally shot himself after enduring some 20 years of cancer surgeries and other operations due to agent orange. When he was told he needed yet another operation, he went home and pulled the trigger. Very sad.
There are several types of war survivors:
Those that survive without any seeming mental problems.
Those that survive with mental problems.
Those that survive and hope the demons leave them alone until they die.
Most of us are part of the latter.
