How Cronyism Is Infesting Cap-And-Trade

Conflicts Of Interest: Supporters of suspending California's climate-change law submit signatures for a November ballot initiative. Among the initiatives' opponents is an administration energy official who stands to profit from its defeat.

Opponents of California's draconian global warming law, Assembly Bill 32, on Monday submitted 800,000 signatures, almost double the amount required, to put an initiative to suspend the law on the November ballot.

They believe, as we do, that AB32 will, when implemented, cost California, a state with 12.6% unemployment, more jobs in an already bleak economy, while raising energy prices and driving away more business with its unfriendly climate, pun intended.

AB32 was signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006. It requires that by 2020, California's emissions of carbon dioxide, which every human being exhales and every green plant inhales, and other so-called greenhouse gases be reduced to 1990 levels. That's a required drop of about 25%. The law's provisions take effect Jan. 1, 2012.

If approved by the voters on Nov. 2, the California Jobs Initiative, sponsored by California Assemblyman Dan Logue, would suspend the implementation of AB32 until California has four consecutive quarters where the unemployment rate is 5.5% or less.

As long as we’re on the subject of cronyism, how’s that $3B embryonic stem cell initiative working out for ya, California?

Yeah, you really showed Bush how dumb he was with that one.

Cronyism is the essence of Marxism and libertarianism.

In a free market (as defined by libertarians) a corporation should be able to do whatever it wants (within the law) with its profits.

If a company wants to spend its money hiring the "right" people, dealing out stock options to the "right" people, and lobbying government, then so be it.

It seems that Serious Materials is in for a serious ROI if Cap & Trade goes into effect.

That's a great business plan in a world where only that which is illegal is off the table, and morality and ethics can go take a hike.

I see nothing but cronyism. Looking at what Bigovernment.com, Glenn Beck and a number of other folk have been stringing together and presenting, the same sad-sack faces keep popping up all involved in a board of directors here, a consultant there, as government officials, and over a protracted period of time the whole pack of faces have been playing musical chairs all in the same circles. To me that is a concerted conspiracy - "go green", "save the planet", uh uh no way no how, "help the poor people" are you kidding, they don't care. This all about working their butts off for a Big Score - I cannot see such a pack of hacks putting out such effort for anything less or for anyone's benefit but their own closed circle.

When I was about 12 years old, in the 1960’s, I watched an interview of two Democrap congressmen, maybe senators, I wasn’t all that aware at the time... they were well fed, well, fat, draped in camel hair coats, and talking like a Soprano “family” member. “Weze gonna help da poor in this country, give ‘em a good standard of living and all. Ya, you know, help the poor.” Thugs instantly recognized at that moment I knew what Democraps were - thieving, disgusting, amoral, lying thugs. Nothing since has dissuaded me from that insight. And since, these thugs have helped themselves and their cronies to all the wealth a decent society can produce. I hate, hate, hate these people.

I think that's everyone's definition of a free market. Libertarians just propose the the "within the law" part be a lot less restrictive due to a lot less restrictive laws.

I’ve coined a term—I call what we see in politics at EVERY level, incestuous cronyism. I live in CT and the state GOP chair has his wife already in the employ of the RINO candidate Linda McMahon. The RINO problem is systemic—their roots are very deep, and their principles are shallow. As a Tea Partier, I have great hope, but I’m also very aware that the challenges we face are great. Whether it’s marxism, communism, socialism, or fascism—Personally, I think what we’re witnessing is fascism, but there’s ALOT of overlap with the ‘isms. Getting back to the power of the individual won’t be easy, but I didn’t get involved ‘cause I thought it would be easy, but because in my heart I know it’s the right thing to do. Let freedom ring!

Nice post Kaslin:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, personae non gratae with the Obama administration, cites a 2009 study done by economists at California State University at Sacramento and commissioned by the California Small Business Roundtable. It found that implementation costs for AB32 "could easily exceed $100 billion" and that the program would raise the cost of living by $7,857 per household annually by 2020.

Now think nationwide Cap & Trade and we easily see the TRILLIONS of dollars that the goron, obamination crime syndicate stand to reap thru CCX, taxes and associated crony businesses.

Now think of all the RINO's standing in line, "for the good of the planet", to help this along.

Now ask WHY are these liberal clowns doing this? The simple answer is that some of these clowns HATE AMERICA and are doing everything in their power to weaken the country economically.

None of this makes sense until you understand Obama is an Anti-American Muslim plant.

"Meeks asked: "How does it come about that repeatedly — at least six times last year — executives from one window manufacturer, one small California company, appeared with the president and vice president and no other company even gets a mention?" As it turns out, according to Meeks' colleague Jonathan Blake, the company's policy director is married to Cathy "Zoi, the administration's assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy.
In that position, Zoi has control of $16.8 billion in stimulus funds.
Environmental guru and reporter Christopher Horner, writing for Pajamas Media, also notes that Zoi, formerly CEO of the Alliance for Climate Protection (founded by, you guessed it, Al Gore) and her husband hold 120,000 shares in Serious Materials, as well as stock options."

Transparency my eye! This administration will go down in history as being the most crooked since this nations creation.
The Kenyen is surrounded by some of the worst crooks, liers, and just plan scum bags I have seen to date.
