WASHINGTON Government safety officials are looking into a handful of reports of severe rashes caused by new types of Pampers diapers.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission started an investigation this week following complaints of babies and toddlers suffering severe and persistent diaper rashes and blisters that resemble chemical burns.
In March, Procter & Gamble launched new versions of its Swaddlers and Cruisers diapers in the U.S. The thinner diapers use the company's Dry Max technology to replace the paper pulp previously used. Parents' groups blame the change for skin problems.
The company denies that Dry Max causes chemical burns.
"There is no evidence from the people that have called us or from the research that we have done that a single baby has experienced a skin safety issue as a result of our Pampers with Dry Max," the Cincinnati-based company said in a statement.

the market crash gave the babies a rash
What does Obama have against P&G????
First it was all children’s cold medicine’s etc, now it’s diapers. Fastest way to get to a parent is through their child...EVIL.
Procter & Gamble must not have donated enough to the Democratic Party.
Were they made in China?
Bureaucrats looking for bureaucrats where bureaucrats should be found.
Have they had a rash of complaints?
Maybe the E-Trade babies are getting their diapers in a wad over Obama and the markets.
Oh God! My daughter and SIL are having a hell of a time findng baby products that Don’t suck.
Johnson/Johnson, Mcneil, now Pampers?
I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of this.
It'll drive you nuts trying to keep up with the lies.
So, a few milkaholics wet their diapers and got a rash. Here, call someone who cares . . . .
End of problem.
TSA officials look there, so I’m not surprised that other bureaucrats are.
I’m glad I’m the Grandfather and not a parent.
They already use several alternative products that actually owrk better. Alternative baby medicines are harder to find.
Milk-a-what?
What a bum deal!
I have my own theory about the diaper rash issue that seems to be common now. Many babies spend a lot of time in car seats and other devices that strap them securely in. Those straps cause a chafing effect with the rubbing of the material in disposable diapers. It starts out as a red chafing and if not treated aggressively then becomes a diaper rash that is very hard to cure. I have seen this in several babies after they have been on long car trips. One of my daughters had a baby just over a month ago and I have convinced her to pretreat diaper area with diaper rash ointment when there is no redness as a preventative. So far that seems to be working- this baby has been on several long car trips since we live far from anywhere- and not even a hint of redness in the diaper area.
I don’t like whatever it is used in place of fabric next to the skin in any of the disposables- but they are so convenient I don’t see many giving them up for cloth diapers. Parents just have to be diligent to change babies often and be aware of the chafing issue of using all the straps.
