Hung Parliament Looks Likely in U.K.

LONDON—U.K. Conservative Party leader David Cameron faces an intense round of political jockeying to gain control of the British government, as his party apparently won more House of Commons seats than rivals, but fell short of a majority.

Early projections showed Mr. Cameron's party won 305 seats, short of the 326 seats required for a majority but more than the 255 seats for Labour and 61 seats for the Liberal Democrats, according to exit polls. However, exit polls can be wildly off and even small margins of error could produce very different final outcomes.

If the final results confirm that tally, the result is a so-called hung Parliament in which Mr. Cameron would have to seek support from other parties to form a government. But despite winning more seats than the ruling Labour Party, Mr. Cameron wouldn't have the first crack at taking control of the British government.

By convention, that honor would fall to Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown. As the incumbent, he would have the first shot at attempting to secure support, either through a formal coalition or working as a minority government by building alliances on individual votes.

This could lead to a repeat of 1974.

Anyways, the election is again an elaborate charade of the false left-right paradigm that divides Britons as a whole. They're prepicked puppets. Looking for true and bona fide leadership is an impossibility.

CNBC reported that the conservatives are going to get a majority, that the exit polls were wrong. Imagine that.

Indeed. I have no faith in a two-party system rigged from the beginning.

You can either have a “well hung” parliament, or you can have a “hung” parliament (if you have enough rope).

With the British Left, I’ll go for the rope option.
