Facebook turns on Sarah Palin
Politico ^ | May 6, 2010 11:38pm | Andy Barr

Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement of Carly Fiorina in California's Senate race has prompted a fervent blowback on her Facebook page, long Palin's safe haven for delivering her message.

The revolt is coming from Palin supporters who also back Chuck DeVore – a tea party favorite who is campaigning against Fiorina in the Republican primary.

Palin’s Facebook page is littered with comments opposing her endorsement of Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard.

“The only REAL CONSERVATIVE is Chuck DeVore. Fiorina is a RINO and we don't need any more of those in [California],” one irate commenter wrote. “Why wouldn't you back Chuck DeVore???”

The impassioned revolt from some of her most faithful supporters prompted Palin to update her post to “add a few things about my Carly endorsement because some reaction right out of the chute calls for more information.”

In her original post, Palin made no mention of Fiorina’s social views, but in the update Palin touted the former CEO’s opposition to abortion rights.

“Carly has been endorsed by the National Right to Life, the California Pro-Life Council, and the Susan B. Anthony List,” Palin wrote of Fiorina. “She is pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-military, and pro-strict border security and against amnesty.”

“Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment,” she added. “Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners. She is pro-energy development and believes as I do in an all-of-the-above approach to energy independence. She is against cap and tax. And most importantly, Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer.”

Palin can't endorse a Rino and not expect to get some flack.

And this is why you don’t endorse RINOs.

And Pailn is also learning that the mob mentality that supports her will not stand for her having her own political agenda.

Fiorina would be a very valuable ally for Palin. To say otherwise is naive

If I remember right Fiorina was heavily involved in the McCain campaign, and that could have a lot to do with the endorsement.

I’m a Sarah fan, but her endorsement of Carly (a bimbo of Katie Couric proportions) has gone beyond the pale.

Shame, Sarah. You can do better.

What qualifications does Palin think are applicable to the office? Given the damage that Carly’s ego did to HP, and the complete lack of conservative values she exercised while in office, I wouldn’t trust her to manage a lemonade stand - let alone a state.

Bear in mind, this woman fired 20,000 people, so she could buy 7 Lear jets (complete with an HP employee ‘stewardess’ - so the executives wouldn’t have to walk the 20 ft to get their own soda). 20,000 families who had a job, lost their ability to provide for their families, their homes, their children’s education - their lives thrown into total chaos - so this b*tch could fly in her own fleet of Lear jets.

Forgive me if I want Carly feeding vultures, but a person who is so utterly selfish, that she would do that to other people ... well, we are not an endangered species and I think an example should be set. It’s a shame she will never experience what she so liberally gave to people who had no power to fight back.

"Carly is the only conservative in the race who can beat Barbara Boxer"

Kinda says it all, doesn't it?
This is California we're talking about.

Politics is the Art of the Possible. She can endorse anyone she wants, and not endorse someone who is guaranteed to lose.

It always comes down to what's possible. Do you vote for someone who you agree with 90% on the time, but has no chance, or someone you agree with 65% and has a good chance of winning?

Gov. Palin doesn't need me to tell her what to think. We should all grow up. We agree more than not, and the goal here is to get rid of the Socialists!

If Campbell wins the Republican primary, a huge window will open for the incumbent, Barbara Boxer, who will be able to point to like her record of supporting Israel in contrast to Campbell’s hostility toward one of America’s closest allies. Campbell is splitting the vote between Him, DeVore and Fiorini....Fiorini has money for Ads in BIG CALIFORNIA, Devore does not.....so you cut your losses......pick Fiorini and have the best opportunity to beat Boxer

Campbell is the wild card messing up all of this

Carly will do or say anything to get her way. Look at the way she behaved when she had power at HP; that is the REAL Carly Fiona. She is a power hungry, selfish person who wouldn't even consider the ramifications of throwing your family out in the street to starve. You are beneath her, your opinion matters not a single bit. As long as she can get some personal benefit from it, no matter how small - your survival means nothing.

She was fired from HP for a reason, she nearly destroyed a very large corporation, she fired 20,000 employees - and took that cost savings and bought a fleet of 7 Lear jets for herself and her executive staff. What do you suppose she'd do, if she had a job she couldn't be fired from? You think Peloski is a self-serving politician? She's a kindergarten teacher compared to Carly.

I’m not entirely sure she is getting the best guidance from her “handlers” concerning endorsements. I don’t know how much impact an endorsement has anyway. They could be strategic long range moves, design for maximum payback in 2012.

Sara needs to refrain from endorsing anyone that has leaning towards the more extreme spectrum.

McCain was for amnesty & cap & trade and she backed him.
Fiorina worked for McCain so has same beliefs.

Whitman is for amnesty and against states rights to defend their boarders. She said so yesterday in San Diego.

California is going to get stuck with another progressive. What a mess we have made for ourselves!

Sarah is confusing. We are trying to escort the damned RINO’S OUT with a footprint in their butts, not endorsing them as in holding open the door, and welcoming them.

What am I missing here?

She loves muslims is my only problem with her. I am waiting for a politician who will be honest about islam and the problems it has and will cause in America. Allowing a mosque to be built at ground zero infuriates me. What I would like to say would get me banned.

Are you a union member?

Nope, never worked for HP either. However, when I see a company treat people worse than I treat my dog; well, that tells me something about their value of human life, a level of self-importance, and mostly the utter lack of compassion.

I believe that a company's most valuable asset ARE their employees. Without a team of employees, a company is nothing more than a brick and mortar building. It's the employees who work, who dedicate their life to working to make the company successful. They throw their energies into making the company successful, and in exchange have several expectations. They are expected to be loyal to the company - and the employee SHOULD have the expectation that the company will have some loyalty returned to them. That is a team, that is what a partnership is. A reasonable person thinks that their job will enable them to make their house payments, support their family, pay for their children's education, allow them to contribute to their 401K, work hard and get a raise/promotion.

If you look at companies like IBM, HP (after Carly), the US Military and precious few other companies - that mindset continues. This mindset allows people to live the american dream. Work hard, be honest, improve yourself - and you'll be rewarded. But, that thought has been perverted by people like Carly - who take that trust, and use people for their own benefit, then discard them.

20,000 families were discarded - so Carly could have 7 Lear jets. What did these 20,000 do to deserve this? How could they have prevented this punishment? They could not do a thing to prevent this, and a great many lost their homes, their savings and their retirement - so a manager wouldn't have to fly on a commercial jet.

Probably someone who worked or knows people who worked at HP under Fiorina.

My bro-in-law who still works at HP had a party after she left. She ran a great company into the ground.
