Report details depravity of SEALs' accuser
The Washington Times ^ | May 10, 2010 | Rowan Scarborough

The just-concluded military trials of three exonerated Navy SEALs showed the terrorism suspect at the center of the case to be one of the most dangerous men in Iraq.

Ahmed Hashim Abed initially was described as the insurgent who planned the killings of four Blackwater security guards in Fallujah in 2004, with two of their charred bodies infamously hung from a bridge over the Euphrates River.

But the three SEALs who captured Abed — and were court-martialed afterward — nabbed a far more notorious figure, according to trial testimony and an intelligence report.

Abed is thought to have committed a series of killings, including beheadings, in western Anbar province as a leading al Qaeda operative. He remains in an Iraqi prison awaiting trial in that country's criminal court system.

A SEAL team captured Abed in Iraq in September. The team's post-capture report, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times, said Abed had in his possession a loaded pistol, nearly $6,000 in U.S. cash, five identification cards and one passport.

The report also said he was responsible for recruiting insurgents, trafficking weapons and staging ambushes and attacks with improvised explosive devices.

Abed's status as a most-wanted killer is one reason many Americans rallied around the three SEALs, who were accused of hitting him after capture. They celebrated after the last defendant, Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew McCabe, was found not guilty Thursday of assaulting Abed by a seven-member military jury in Norfolk, Va.

"As they say, SEALs 3 — Terrorist 0," said a posting on the Facebook page Support the Navy SEALs who Captured Ahmed Hashim Abed, which boasts more than 123,000 members.

Neal Puckett, Petty Officer McCabe's lead civilian attorney, summoned several senior military officers to the witness stand to tell the jury why the SEALs set...

The PC in our military is a growing problem, fortunately these SEALs were found not guilty but shouldn't have been put through this.

I’d love for one of this thug’s guards to read him some bedtime stories. My favorite is “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” about a liar who made false claims and then wasn’t believed when he told the truth. I wonder how much credence Ahmed Hashim Abed would be given if he again claimed “abuse” and whether that thought makes him nervous.

The easiest way to stop this crap is get the hell out of the Middle East. We are never going to change these people. The only thing we will accomplish is to train their military, which we may have to go up against and to give them military equipment for free. Our youngsters are paying the price for the politicians dumb decisions. Get out and get out now and let them fend for themselves. If they don’t want to do that, let them fail.

Yeah, but the fear is there...... just like the Hadithah Marines. There is enough crap going on as it is. Not only do you have to worry about the enemy in front of you, but the enemies behind you (the adminstration and kongress).

The troops face the violence of a shattered career, strained home life, stained reputation, economic hardship, and possibly a loss of Liberty through a prison sentence...... I think the DoD has a definition for something similar.....

The calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological

For those of you wondering, that is DoD' definition of terrorism......sums up kongress quite nicely don't it?

Another glaring example of unwarrnted PC was Gen. Casey speaking out after the Ft. Hood shootings by Hasan:

“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,”

General Casey: diversity shouldn’t be casualty of Fort Hood

Yes, the Haditha Marine incident is an horific example.

Of the eight Marines charged in December of 2006 the charges were dropped for six of them, the seventh was found not guilty but the eighth is still waiting for his court-martial, it’s scheduled for this coming September. It’s a terrible ongoing fiasco.

Let me get this straight.

Our Navy SEALs caught an incredibly depraved Muslim criminal.

So they are the ones who must go to court, while he is allowed to accuse them.???

Wouldn’t it be true anywhere else in the world, where two countries are war or our country is at war with people like this, that this guy would just be shot on sight? Isn’t he an enemy combatant? Aren’t our soldiers supposed to hunt guys like this down?

Hey thanks Obama for the wonderful rules of engagement that don’t even let our soldiers shoot people that have just finished shooting at them. What a great president you are!

Now that the three Navy SEALS have had justice meted out to them (they were innocent),when are we going to see justice served on the terrorist that made the false charge?

As I understand it it’s up to the Iraqis at this point. They’re going to try him and hopefully stretch his neck as they did with Saddam.

The cr*p as you say is deeply infiltrated into our society. It's called political correctness and it's here for a long, long time, unless maybe the Lord will be coming back sometime soon.

Sadly I'm coming around to your way of thinking. Instead of putting boots on the ground and engaging in "nation building" (something Bush said we weren't going to do btw) we should make it clear that any Nation that allows it's nationals to attack US interests anywhere in the world will pay a horrible price. And then we do it.

This Faisal mook is from Pakistan? Fine. Waziristan gets a week of continuous B-52 strikes and the ISI HQ goes up in a ball of flames.

One from Yemen? No problem, we got plenty of B-52's and loads of bombs.

Saudi? Same treatment only we hit Mecca and vaporize that stupid black rock they dance around.

I no longer care about their civilians, their women, their children, or their housepets.

They can hate us all they want as long as they fear us.

I reached that point a long time ago. I don’t really care about those people any longer. I’m tired of hearing about them every time I hear the news or come into FR. One problem I see for the future is that Obama will have one hell of a problem if he brings the troops home and there’s no jobs. He looses both ways.

it doesn't matter, the last act by this scum took 3 naval special operators out of service. F'ing great. The navy must be just so proud of this total bullsh#t.

my son will never fight in the bullsh#t armed forces, like his father, his grandfather and 5 uncles. I'd like to take the puke that brought the charges , the officer that went along for this cr#p out on a sneak and peak, and just let them walk into the tail rotor of a chopper on a night op... by accident.
