“”Having a daughter like that was really special,” says Mel. “She was great in school. The type of person who never gave us any trouble, she was a great child.” He describes Erica as a role model for young golfers.”
Maybe she was killing herself being “perfect” trying to meet others expectations. Parents need to let their “perfect” children know that they appreciate the level of effort it takes to be that (it doesn’t come naturally to anybody).
I tell me kids right from the beginning, failure is an important part of life. It is only through failure that we ultimately learn how to become a success. I want them to do their best, but not to let failure get them down, or to live their lives in fear of it.
Certainly possible. I remember reading about a Dartmouth student athlete killing herself back in the mid 90s alledgedly trying to live up to perfection.
