I don’t see how one can vote to confirm a candidate who will be interpreting law on a fundamental Constitutional right that she does not fully support: freedom of speech.
Confirming a justice who overtly wants to change our Constitution through interpretation is a clear threat to it. That is completely unacceptable and, in and of itself, renders her unqualified for the position.
Some of them just “owe” her one.
Oh look, she reaches out to all sides. Wow, just what we need, John McCain on the Supreme Court.
I’m thinking her left arm is ten times longer than her right arm, making it ever so easy to reach out to the left, and quite difficult to reach out to the right.
She needs to be discredited by those that know the truth.
There is no doubt she will be confirmed. Could the best scenario be that she will be more easily manipu....convinced to correct thinking by the conservative justices, simply because she has no judicial experience?
This woman should be filibustered out of existence.
Remember the Bork.
Republicans in office better start realizing that progressives (dems) all compromise like North Korea, they get all they want and you give up what you have,PRINCIPLES!
To your point, she is being picked because she won’t listen to anyone with half a brain. At least that’s the way I see it. This one is the mad scientist of judicial activism. Wait and see...
Come on! You mean to tell me there are conservative lawyers and academe members? And they would confirm a far leftist for the SCOPUS? Come on!
We are one vote away from every privately held gun to be taken away.
We are one vote away from the complete Stalinist eradication of every Christian symbol from public life.
We are one vote away from the insane notion that the Constitution guarantees full and complete health care, a home and a job to everyone who wants one.
We are one vote away from the forced governmental dismantling of the First Amendment, through every medium including the internet and the radio.
We are one vote away from New Haven Fire Fighters becoming the law of the land, when your child’s grades, years of study, and hard work are thrown down the sewer of political correctness if the racial outcome does not meet the pyscho-left’s definition of racial equality.
We are one vote away from the eradication of property rights.
We are one vote away from the takeover of private industry by the government.
We are one vote away from Big Brother - just one, and they keep pushing it.
Our sacred Bill of Rights will be gone. The power of the State will not be stopped.
“She has had a remarkable and truly unusual record of reaching out across ideological divides, said Michael McConnell”
What fellowship has light with darkness? Or Christ with Baal?
According to Wikipedia, she’s a graduate of Hunter College High School.
I recall that Sandra Day O’Connor didn’t want to retire if Gore had won the 2000 election because she didn’t want a Democrat to name her replacement. I hope dearly that Anthony Kennedy has the same outlook.
“She needs to be discredited by those that know the truth.”
What truth is that?
This gets to the heart of our problem. The left “Borks” the right’s judicial nominees. And the so-called right kisses the a-—s of the left’s nominees.
True. Happily, their attempt to “Bork” Samuel Alito backfired.
I’m displeased by people who put their personal friendships with liberals ahead of the country. Like RINO Ben Stein backing buddy AL FRANKEN for the Senate.
Last I heard, Ben has recanted his earlier Obama support, but he's still dead to me until he makes a public apology tour. Sad. The guy used to be one of my favorite conservative pundits and one of the few with the guts to speak out against Ahnuld in 2003 and support McClintock.
I think it's cute how conservative posters would have us believe that DIABLO Mark Kirk will be a reliable vote on judges, even though most Republican Senators far to his right haven't been. Of course Mark Kirk is saying that any judicial nominee has to be "scrutinized carefully" and is not automatically entitled to a lifetime job. Arlen Specter said the same things when he was up for re-election. Then after he was re-elected, he'd scrutinize the GOP nominees with a fine tooth comb while giving the far left lunatic nominees like Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Sonia Sotomayor a free pass.
Miguel Estada came out in favor of Kagan. Ugh. He's a private citizen and had no obligation to say anything on the matter, but voluntarily told the media he supported her. Makes me rethink my support for Estrada. Bush was grooming him for an eventual SCOTUS appointment.
The odd thing is Lindsey Graham makes a decent point that replacing a liberal judge with a liberal judge is far less damaging than replacing a conservative judge with a liberal. Kagan and Sotomayor just maintain the status quo, whereas card-carrying ACLU lawyer Ginsberg replacing center-right Bryon White was a disaster. Shame on the conservatives who not only voted for her but recommended her as a "mainstream" choice. If that's their idea of mainstream, I'd hate to see their idea of extreme.
>> I think Ben Stein endorsing Al Franken...
It’s about professional nepotism. Lawyers are no different.
