Meg Whitman bites back on immigration
Orange County Register ^ | May 15th, 2010 | Martin Wisckol

Front-running GOP governor candidate Meg Whitman goes on the defensive in her latest TV ad – an indication that Republican opponent Steve Poizner’s attacks on his rival are effective. His emphasis on the issue of illegal immigration is seeming timely – at least among Republicans – given Arizona’s new law and support for it among some Californians.

A look at Whitman’s ad (see video below) and the facts:

Poizner has attacked Whitman for being friendly with the enemy because she gave $8,000 in 2003 toward Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer’s reelection effort. In the new ad, Whitman says, “I strongly oppose Barbara Boxer and I’m working hard to defeat her.”

She defends herself against Poizner’s attack that she’s soft on illegal immigration and supports amnesty for illegal immigrants.

“I will secure our border, and I’ll send in the National Guard if necessary. I say no driver’s licenses, no sanctuary cities, and absolutely no amnesty. Period.”

Making exception for VP Cheney, but the rest of you non-Californians need to just BUTT OUT!

I am a Californian and Cheney should butt out. Meg Whitless is a RINO.

No, she isn't a RINO. Someone who is as fiscally conservative as she is wouldn't be defined as a RINO in my book -- or Cheney's - or a majority of California Republicans'. Your definition may vary, but that RINO term gets tossed around here so loosely - and excessively - that it is meaningless now.

Given Reagan's record as CA governor he'd be labeled a RINO by the likes of you too. Thank God it didn't stop him from going on to being one of our greatest presidents.

If anyone is a RINO in this race, it's pathetic Poizner.

Nice. I am sure your mom would be proud. Your intellect and debating skills are on full display. Who are you voting for? Poizner? The guy who gave $10,000 to Al Gore to defeat Bush/Cheney and borrowed $300K from Goldman Sachs for his last campaign?

Oh...wait....YOU DON’T LIVE IN CALIFORNIA, so you don’t get to vote....and you are clearly not sufficiently apprised of the facts to weigh in.

Both are running to replace Governor Arnold....against a probable Jerry Moonbeam Brown on the Donk side......LOLOLOLOL

As far as I’m concerned we have no good choice in this race, none whatsoever...............

What you don’t understand is that, in California, the best we can hope for is a RINO.

That's a loser's attitude. No wonder California is a freaking mess.

I don’t know what’s more hilarious, your having made a comparison of any kind of Nut-Meg Whitman to Ronald Reagan, or your presumption that you have any idea what my definition of “RINO” is.

I met Ronald Reagan. I worked on his 1976, 1980 and 1984 presidential campaigns. Nut-Meg Whitman doesn’t deserve to share the same sentence with Mr. Reagan much less the same office.

*She is pro-abortion
*She has, in the past, supported Barbara Boxer for senate.
*She has aligned herself with some of the mooniest bats of the global-warming movement including the Obama’s fellow communist and close friend, Van Jones.
*And, as we know. she opposes Arizona’s attempt to curb runaway crime and spending on the ILLEGAL hordes who continue to infest that state.

This woman is a train wreck and any self-respecting conservative with a scintilla of knowledge about her knows it.

But you’re free, of course, as is Dick Cheney, to continue your vain attempts at defending her regardless of the fact that doing so will further diminish your already lacking credibility.

Have a nice day.

What you don’t understand is that, in California, the best we can hope for is a RINO. Who the heck is Steve Poisner? I have yet to see one Poisner ad or appearance on TV. I don’t even know what he looks like. He won’t win against Boxer, but Whitman just might.

lol...Business as usual....The better of two evils shtick all over again...

The GOP has to run the super rich for candidates because the GOP is broke, They get the super rich to fund their own campaigns.....Sad huh?

Ya know why the the GOP is broke?

Because their full of RINO's, and pro-big gov sluts that masquerade as conservatives...

Oh, gag me with a spoon. I worked with Ronald Reagan too. I even have a photo with him... and I even saved babies from being aborted and I was captain of my lacross team. For heaven's sake....grow up people. Instead of all the me, me, me stuff how about actually researching someone's actual positions and stop LYING.

*Whitman is pro-choice, yet supports the Hyde Amendment and parental notification, but Poizner got a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood.

*Whitman gave a token donation of $1000 to Boxer, but she donated a whopping $239,201 to Republicans, and only $10,000 to Democrats over the years.

*She never aligned herself with Van Jones. She was on a working cruise with him where they met and she came off the ship saying some nice things about him. She never endorsed him, his policies or his ideology, but Poizner DID send $10K to the King of Global Warming, Al Gore.

*She opposes amnesty, wants to secure the border and plans to eradicate sanctuary cities in California. She toured the border and stressed the importance of border security over a year ago. Poizner first brought up the border 29 days before the primary.

Lying? I had first considered you just a half-wit. Now I know you're either lying or completely stupid.

*Whitman gave a token donation of $1000 to Boxer,

Only $1000 you say? Actually, that was what she gave ot the great conservative John Kerry.

She quadrupled that amount for Boxer. So did you already know that and were "LYING" or are you the one who needs to do the research?

The balance of your post is so asinine and completely rife with liberal apologies it doesn't warrant my time. She "said went on a cruise with Van Jones and said some nice things about him"? LMAO!

I generally steer clear of posters like you. I admit my mistake in responding to your lunacy and know it won't happen again.

Later, RINO.
