Obama's Base Likely to Disappoint Dems
Real Clear Politics ^ | 5/17/10 | David Paul Kuhn

Barack Obama won two groups at unprecedented levels in the post-war era -- blacks and youth. This feat carried with it two stark realities for the next contest. Both blocs have a low turnout rate in midterm elections. And both blocs were particularly personally attached to Obama and the change he personified.

Obama's absence from the 2010 ballot was, therefore, always to be a problem for Democrats. But the gravity of that problem has grown with Democrats' larger problems.

Next month, the Democratic National Committee will begin a $50 million program to turn out the Obama base in November.

So where did all those trillions go? The poor are getting poorer and everyone else is getting poor too.

What a pity that the average Dem voter is so stupid/hard-headed, that they will not only not question the empirical evidence all around them, but they will also continue to vote Dem for life.

No, blacks were attracted to Obama for the same reason that Romney got 90% of the vote in Utah. To pretend otherwise is the height of naivety.

I'm surprised at you! Dem voters aren't stupid. They are the profoundest intellectuals, the thought patterns of whom would leave knuckle-draggers such as you and I in the dust! [/sarcasm]

“unemployment” carries with it the “decoration” of people who actually want jobs.

A lot of these folks wouldn’t be accurately described that way.

turnout will be way down among blacks and the young, but the third leg of the Dem tripod is expecting record turnout. according to ACORN and SEIU, the dead are going to vote in record numbers.

I am hopeful that these groups won’t turn out...but...we were hopeful that “Youth” wouldn’t turn out in 08, but they did (historicaly unprecedented).

Mid terms are different for sure.

But I’m not sure yet that their turnout will be depressed....

Hopefully PA 12 will be a good sign for us, tomorrow.

Don't forget the dead vote. They will vote 250% Democrat in November.

6 millions private sector jobs lost on since the Democrats took control of Congress.

Double-digit unemployment for blacks, hispanics and younger workers. More long-term unemployment than in a generation.

“What a pity that the average Dem voter is so stupid/hard-headed, that they will not only not question the empirical evidence all around them, but they will also continue to vote Dem for life.”

If they are in that 6 million, or in the unemployed, they need to rethink.

“Barack Obama won two groups at unprecedented levels in the post-war era — blacks and youth.”

Amazingly, these are the two groups being utterly destroyed by the democrat party.

I think the part we need to really take from this is the GOOD news! Look, Obamao took 95% of the black vote and 70+% of the youth vote and STILL only won 53% of the vote! He only won 53% when most Republicans had to really, REALLY hold their nose just to stomach the idea of actually voting for McCan’t!!

Think about that! If he can get that much “base” support and still only win by 3% - imagine what will happen when this idiot continues to drub the American economy and espouse his socialist agenda.

Before this idiot was elected, I wrote on here that it would not be long before we pined for the good ole days of Jimmy Carter’s America! Boy, I hate it when I am right!

I said it over a year ago...They shot their wads in ‘08 and they'll never come out like that again. They jumped on their chance to make history and now they're happy to reminisce about it.

As a former poll worker I can say that in our precinct hardly any dem voters turned out for the mid terms. We almost always had an 80% turn out for republicans in every race but dems only came out at about 15% and all of the ones who did turn out where elderly. Since Obama has lost the elderly via passing healthcare I seriously doubt if they will get many voters out at all.

I agree. I was talking to a leftard friend of mine on Friday and he stated that the economy is great. He supported that claim with the “fact” that every economic indicator is at its best in over a decade. I asked if he was serious and upon confirmation I simply replied with he must get all of his news from MSNBC and walked away.

The left is full of unthinking sheep.

Well, the DNC and the SEIU is trying to gin up passion with the Arizona law. Watch next for a James Byrd type of chain dragging moment to inflame racial outrage and try and spur the black vote.

“He supported that claim with the “fact” that every economic indicator is at its best in over a decade. “

Does he know we have near 10% unemployment?
$1.5 trillion deficits?
Ignorance or liberals constructing reality to suit their agenda?
