KINGMAN A former Arizona Congressman campaigned in Kingman Saturday, railing against his Republican rival, U.S. Sen. John McCain, as well as Democrats.
Republican candidate John David Hayworth, 51, held a town hall, which drew about 125 people to a Kingman church. Hayworth was a conservative six-term U.S. Congressman until 2007, after which he hosted a Phoenix radio talk show.
Arizona House Rep. Nancy McLain, R-Bullhead City, said Hayworth has been banging the drum about border security for years now unlike someone who has an election year conversion, she added without mentioning McCain by name. She also formerly endorsed Heyworth for McCains Senate seat.
Hayworth told the crowd that he recognized McCain for his military service to the country but said it was time to welcome the senator home. It was not a personal attack on McCain but a difference in policy, he said.
He also criticized national reporters for not understanding that it is about the U.S. Constitution, which he said should be restored. Hayworth also criticized regulatory bureaucrats including agencies like the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Federal Communications Commission.
Calling himself the consistent conservative, Hayworth said the United States should guarantee every state a republican form of government and that each state should be protected from invasion. He said a democracy is where there are two wolves and a lamb voting on what is for dinner. A republic is two wolves and a well-armed lamb who contest the vote.
He also renamed General Motors as Government Motors and said that President Barack Obama gave pink slips to the head of the corporation. He called Obamas administration as wanting to radically redistribute the wealth.
Hayworth also said the federal government failed to secure the border nearly a decade after the terrorist attack in September 2001. He praised Arizona legislators for passing the illegal immigration bill and said McCain voted for the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill, which Hayworth called amnesty.
Fielding questions from the audience, he also blasted Mexican President Felipe Calderon and called it shameful that Calderon, recently speaking to the American Congress, criticized the Arizona immigration bill. He said if you enforce the bill, the illegal immigrants will leave.
He said the Heritage Foundation estimated the cost of amnesty just for retirement benefits for illegal immigrants would be $2.6 trillion.
He also said McCain convinced other Republicans to vote for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, which came with loopholes that Wall Street executives have already figured out. Opposing TARP, Hayworth said taxpayer money should have gone to Main Street not Wall Street.
Hayworth also took aim at the health care bill, which he has already signed a petition to repeal. To his knowledge, McCain has not. Hayworth then said he would only serve two six-year terms in the Senate if elected. He also said U.S. Congress members as well as the Supreme Court judges should have term limits.
Hayworth also said he supported moving the United Nations elsewhere or with todays technology advocates using the Internet for meetings with other countries. When questioned, he said he opposed statehood for Puerto Rico and Washington D.C., calling it votes for Democrats.
Hayworth said that McCain, in the past, has taken positions that he, as a conservative opposes, such as amnesty for illegal immigrants, opposition to a federal ban on same-sex marriage, McCains support of a federal regulation of gun shows and his support for climate change legislation. Hayworth, of Scottsdale, said he opposed the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform, calling it unconstitutional.
BUMP
There’s a difference?
Good to see JD hitting the campaign trail. Need to get him and his message out more
John McCain is still a liar
Bump and saved!
Hayworth railed against McAmnesty and RATS? What’s the difference?
I need some clarity: All Mexicans including the dual citizens and ones with green cards or just the illegals? Just the Mexicans, or do Guatemalans, Costa Ricans, and Peruvians have to go too? I hope my legal resident wife who refuses to get citizenship while Obama is in office will be allowed to stay because I have grown fond of her being around. Big plus: she's white. I also hope my legal Mexican and Latin friends with advanced degrees can stay too.
Get a life you loser, it was a humorous post.
Lighten up Francis.
“Just the Mexicans, or do Guatemalans, Costa Ricans, and Peruvians have to go too? “
NO, THEY CAN ALL STAY. IT’S YOU THAT HAS TO GO !
LOL
Well, he said he needed some ‘clarity’, looks like you gave it to him.
BWHAHAHHAAA!!!!!
“The only Mexicans I want around my house are made by Swanson:”
I have more of a priblem with illegal aliens myself, no matter WHERE they came from.
George Bush tactics won't work on the wily, obfuscating McAmnesty.
As Leon de la Durocher said, "Nice amigos finish last".
Leni
Too easy ;-)
Are you referring to “The Guacamole Act of 1937” ?
Along with extra sharp cheddar cheese, some chilies and green peppers and tomato sauce. You can turn those into a chile rellino dinner in 30 minutes like a snap.
If you hurry up, you can pig out while watching the Lakers/Suns game. The Basque guy Pau Gisol the Lakers have as a center has some amazing moves.
Oh come on Rabs, Obama and his administration is nothing to fear. (Vote MeCain 2010) /s /s /s /s /s /s /s /s /s /s squared
