Flag officers don’t “step down” in the middle of a crises (or at least they shouldn’t). She was probably relieved, although I’m terribly puzzled why it isn’t being called that.

That’s comforting.

I’d suggest everyone in hurrican territory prepare to fend for yourselves. You should anyway but this seals it.

Isn’t she also the former FAA official who made such a cluster frackas over there that she was booted from their agency? Or maybe that was Mary Schiavo?

She wasn't "vibrant" enough.

Time to bring in some local Louisiana talent-the "big guns", if you will, who have experience in these matters...

I got her confused with the other guy. I didn’t know the Coast Guard had so many admirals.

Didn’t Obama just appoint her last week?

We really just need Obama and his whole incompetent administration to step down! (eye roll)

Another one under the bus. It’s been clear from the start that Obama and his administration were positioning to pin any blame on Obama’s incompetent handling of this spill on the Coast Guard.

NO.

Oddly she does have some (very limited) experience in oil spill response.

“She was the Executive Officer of Marine Safety Office (MSO) Boston during the 9/11 attacks and during her tour as Commanding Officer of MSO Providence, Rhode Island, she oversaw the federal response to the Buzzard’s Bay oil spill in southeastern Massachusetts.”

That spill

“The water and shores of Buzzards Bay were fouled April 27, 2003 by the worst oil spill in a quarter century, closing shellfish beds and threatening nesting shore birds and some seals.

was #6 fuel oil, a long way from raw crude. And the open ocean and in size (BB was only 15000 gallons or a bit over 350 bbl of refined oil).

I think “In over her head” is the best spin I can put on the ‘reassignment’.

Others might be less charitable and say “Clueless”.

YMMV
