3rd Congressional District: Oilman defeats Santa Fe's Kokesh in GOP contest
Santa Fe New Mexican ^ | Tuesday, June 01, 2010 | Steve Terrell

Posted on 06/02/2010 2:22:42 PM PDT by LeoWindhorse

Republicans in the 3rd Congressional District decided to stick with a traditional GOP conservative instead of a young, Ron Paul-style libertarian to run against incumbent U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján.

Tom Mullins, a Farmington oilman and political newcomer, easily defeated Adam Kokesh of Santa Fe.

Kokesh was an unusual candidate from the start. He was endorsed by Paul, a congressman from Texas who ran for president in 2008, and was embraced by members of Paul's nationwide "Liberty Movement." Kokesh, a Marine who fought in Iraq, had gained nationwide recognition for being a combat veteran opposing the war. He was escorted out of the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minnesota for heckling presidential nominee John McCain.

Good. We do not need someone who openly associates with Code Pink representing the Republican Party and New Mexico in Congress. One congresscritter has thankfully passed on after hanging out with Code Pink and figuratively hanging his fellow Marines (John Murtha - p!ss be upon him).

It's amusing to see people get so worked up over a single wacky primary contender with no chance of winning in a district that votes 2 to 1 Democrat anyway.

Put another way, some of you are as deranged about Kokesh as Kokesh is about the war.

no sir

Kokesh represents the point of a seditious conspiracy to undermine and weaken both our U.S. Gov and U.S. Military , from within .
He and those he associates with are worse traitors that
Benedict Arnold was , in that they seek to help usher in a
world wide Caliphate of Islamist shariah and domination.

Possibly they are too stupid to even understand the depth of that which they are aiding and abetting , but possibly it is their plan .

They must be identified , confronted and defeated wherever they pop up .
This is one small victory in the Long War

This is also a war at home ....the enemy , folks like this guys , are among us .

It’s a 2 to 1 Democrat district with no chance of Kokesh ever winning. As I said, some of you are as deranged about Kokesh as Kokesh is about the war.

“It’s amusing to see people get so worked up over a single wacky primary contender with no chance of winning in a district that votes 2 to 1 Democrat anyway.”

For the record, President Bush got 46% in the NM-03 in 2004. So it’s a district that votes 1.17 to 1, not 2 to 1, Democrat. Uphill battle? Sure. But even with the moonbats in Taos and Santa Fe the district is no more Democrat as a whole than the State of New Jersey (which elected Chris Christie as governor last November) and it is far less Democrat than the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (which elected Scott Brown to the Senate less than 5 months ago).

And, in any event, since when is it “deranged” to want to make sure that the Republican Party’s standardbearer in a congressional election is not some Code Pink whackjob who would quickly become MSNBC’s favorite “Republican”?

For the record, President Bush got 46% in the NM-03 in 2004

...which means it's a district that still goes Democrat in a year that is optimal for Republicans with (what was at the time) a strong Republican at the top of the ticket. And in a regular year it's still 2 to 1 Democrat.

Kokesh represents the side of Ron Paul we don’t like.
We want anti-government, not anti-military.

Ron Paul has 100% invested himself and sold out to the anti-war / anti-military movement . And they lend him their support . The Kokesh connection and BOTH Paul endorsements
of Kokesh are the proof of this . Ron Paul has become a Code Pink Elephant . IVAW are his ‘soldiers’ waiting in the wings and trying to edge their way into political power ,while hoping no one is looking .

Newsflash : we are looking! and they are busted ....

May all Liberty Party candidates crash and burn .

2004 was hardly “optimal” for Republicans. Bush barley won New Mexico (and the country). I’m sure Pete Domenici carried the 3rd in his Senate races.

And in a regular year NM-03 is not nearly 2-1 rat. His lordship Obama only won it by slightly more than 20 points in a year that was optimal for rat turnout.

Just admit you were wrong. The seat is winnable under the right conditions and even if it wasn’t it’s good to prevent scum from being nominated as a Republican for any office. It would be an embarrassment.
