Just wait for the “deaf community’s” harsh reaction to this.

Being somewhat familiar with the deaf “community”, having previously lived near their big school near D.C., your comment is dead on accurate.
Deaf people have formed such a community in some places that they look upon someone curing deafness as robbing them of members of their culture.
I remember the hearing of two deaf parents with genetic defects screening their offspring to ensure that their child would inherit deafness. To them, it wasn't preferable to have a fully functioning child, it was more important to create a new member of their deaf culture.
Strange.

‘Just wait for the deaf communitys harsh reaction to this.’
Will they be gesticulating wildly and start a campaign that deaf people should not become hearing-enabled? Kinda like what the militant homosexuals are doing trying to keep other homosexuals from getting counseling to become hetero?
LOL!

Heh. I hear ya... pun intended. I have a CI, even was on the air with Rush the day he came back from having his turned on. He had the exchange archived for a long time on his site. "Two Deaf Guys Talking On The Radio." A fun segment. Wonder if it's still up.
Back when I was one of the earliest North American recipients of the CI, I had to change my email address because of the abuse I received from certain members of the capital-D Deaf community. Some of those folks are seriously damaged. They have a spokesman in a (hearing) guy named Harlan Lane... what a nasty specimen that guy is.
I recall meeting the then-youngest recipient of a CI and his parents at a party some years back. He was an absolutely lovely boy of about 18 months. Happy, well adjusted, sweet... and his parents were getting death threats from folks who viewed his CI as the equivalent of robbing the cradle. They say "deafness is not a deficiency to be cured but a difference to be celebrated." Hence giving a child a CI equates to denying them their cultural identity.
It goes without saying that the capital-D crowd is, in my experience, uniformly, monolithically, fist-in-the-air leftist. Mental dysfunction like theirs is found nowhere else but in the Left.

My thoughts exactly!
They are living proof of Lord Acton's statement: “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”
It is much more important for these “organizations” to continue than to actually solve the problem for which they were created. Initial intentions were great but then the organization became more important than the cause.
I love their fear of losing their deaf heritage.
