'Armageddon scenario': Iran could give nukes to Hamas, Hizbullah

Iran could provide nuclear weapons to Hamas and Hizbullah for a nonconventional attack on Israel, according to a chilling scenario presented in a new report.

"Furthermore, even a minimal nuclear capability would enable Hizbullah and Hamas to conduct ongoing low-level attacks — even severe ones — against Israel, in the confidence that Israel would be deterred from massive retaliation. This would require a declared capability, or at least a strongly suspected one."

Freilich, a former member of Israel's National Security Council, said Hamas or Hizbullah could smuggle a bomb into Israel through ships, airlines or an unmanned aerial vehicle. Other options included the smuggling of a nuclear suitcase bomb or the firing of a nuclear missile into Israel.

"Rockets and missiles — such as those already in the possession of Hizbullah, could be fitted with nuclear warheads, a delivery threat which is largely unique to Israel," the report said. "While the missiles' small payloads and basic inaccuracy make them inappropriate delivery vehicles for ordinary nuclear-military purposes, they are effective weapons of terror. The large size of Hizbullah and Hamas' rocket arsenal and their dispersal in civilian neighborhoods make detection and elimination of the threat a particularly severe problem."

The report said a nuclear Hamas and Hizbullah would gain the confidence to sustain low-level attacks on Israel. Another scenario was that Egypt and Jordan would exploit a Hamas and Hizbullah nuclear threat to further weaken the Jewish state.

"Many Israelis believe that the Arab countries, even Egypt and Jordan, remain implacably opposed to Israel's existence and that they are pursuing a long-term strategy designed to weaken Israel's determination to live in the region as a Jewish and democratic state," the report said. "A terrorist nuclear capability would certainly be commensurate with this perception and would greatly strengthen it."

Israel’s best defense against anything like this is to state:

Any attack upon Israel with WMD ,and especially nuclear weapons ,will result in the immediate loss of all the major islamic holy sites , to a nuclear counter strike , forever .

They should also start with shooting down the aircraft bearing Ahmedinejad the next time he flies anywhere they can reach . Don’t hesitate . Just smoke him .

There is another dimension to this. Having one of these weapons end up here in the United States. All they need to do is go through our porous southern border and ending up in some major city. Its going to happen.

When I saw the “device” in Times Square it could of easily been some sort of nuclear device.

Yes, Armageddon; but not for Israel.

With Israel having an estimated nuclear arsenal of between 100 to 200 weapons and the means to deliver them, the Armageddon will be for Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Gaza.

The strategic problem with the WMD’s is that too many “bad guy” nations are getting them. The terrorists are the strategic equivalent of long range missiles with the added benefit of offering the possibility of secrecy to the nation that provides the WMDs.

President Bush understood this and came up with a brilliant strategy that has some chance of succeeding by changing the hearts and minds of the people of the middle east by creating opportunity to prosper. He selected Afghanistan (easy) and Iraq as the nations to show the way for other middle eastern nations to follow.

Consider, when Iran joins North Korea, Pakistan, and soon Venezuela and maybe even some other not so cool countries in having nuclear weapons. It will become more and more easy to use terrorist groups to deliver a bomb to an infidel city and have some degree of protection from retaliation if we cannot figure out for sure which nation provided the weapon.

We are in a losing battle if you really think about it. The strategy which Bush began is the best hope, but still has limited chance of succeeding because it is becoming so easily available to make nuclear weapons (easier all the time). So, what is likely to happen eventually is some American and/or European cities will suffer nuclear attack. After which, people will demand being safe from attack and the world will decimate the middle east and millions of people will die.

With our new administration, this reality is way beyond their grasp and they are increasing the already high probability that this scenario will play out.

Not could....definitely will, one way or the other. Anyone who believes otherwise is naive.
