(Reuters) - Under President Barack Obama, the United States no longer provides Israel with automatic support at the United Nations where the Jewish state faces a constant barrage of criticism and condemnation.
The subtle but noticeable shift in the U.S. approach to its Middle East ally comes amid what some analysts describe as one of the most serious crises in U.S.-Israeli relations in years.
Under Obama, the United States seeks to reclaim its role as an impartial Middle East peace broker which critics say it lost during the previous administration of George W. Bush.
"Israel became used to unconditional support of the United States during eight years of the Bush administration," said Marina Ottaway, director of the Middle East Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington.

The ham handed way that Obie has dealt with the Israelis has emboldened the Turks to confront Israel.
It is also a massive failure of American diplomacy that we could not twist the Turk’s arm to desist the government from supporting a flotilla organized by a “charity” aka a jihad support org.
The dyke has been breached, and who knows what will flow into this.......
And if Obie ever decides to take a stand, will it even count for anything by that time, since the choice may come down to a full scale war.........
IOW, the muslim in chief uses moral equivalence between Israel and the arabs who constant attack the jewish state.

In November we are going to put the boot on his neck and in 2012 we’re going to finish the job. Israel is our ally and always will be as far as I’m concerned. Let’s get the muslim lover/Israel and America hater out in 2012!
As long as we don’t have a leftist on our side again, I’m all for it.
Better the left destroy us and get the blame, than have “Rs” do it and condemn the Conservatives in the United States to getting blamed for it.
