Saudi Arabia gives Israel clear skies to attack Iranian nuclear sites
The Times Online ^ | June 12, 2010 | Hugh Tomlinson

Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.

To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defences will return to full alert.

I've been thinking for the last year that this is probably how this would play out. Wish I'd actually gone on record with it.

If I was one of them Saudi Kings or Princes and lived in a mansion and had all the Eastern European sex workers I could handle— I’m not sure a nuclear Iran would be in my best interest.

Does history repeat itself? Operation Opera (Hebrew: מבצע אופרה‎, Mivtza Opera) was a 1981 surprise Israeli air strike that destroyed the Iraqi nuclear reactor under construction in Osirak (French: Osirak; Iraqi: Tammuz 1). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera

Saudi Arabia has already denied this.

If this is true I'll wager that the Saudis don't want it made public.Who leaked this? It would have to be someone who's less than supportive of Israel...meaning just about any European government bureaucrat you could name.

Search Saudi and observe a number of posts on this subject, including the denial by the Saudi government.

......Who leaked this? .....

On another thread we learned it was a pacifist in the US State Department.

My take is the Peace at Any cost wackos see the writing on the wall and attempt to wreck the well oil machine being readied to destroy Iran’s nucs

They have opted out and have become irrelevant. When they go to lunch foreign diplomats point fingers and laugh

They will have to go the LOOOONG way around Iraq if Obama continues to resist this. That means the Saudis would not only have to stand down, they’d have to acquiesce to a refueling operation as well.

Not hard to believe. Saudi leadership seems to always be pragmatic and straddling the line. The Turks seem to have been this way, but have flipped. What will the price of oil be if the Israelis bomb, Iran stops everything in the gulf, and here we sit with our oil spill? Throw that on top of the non-recovery recovery.

While Saudi clearly doesn’t want Iran to have nukes, I find this hard to believe.

Besides, if Israel is going to do take out Iran they might as well go through Syria and kill both birds.

Israel => THE single most under appreciated country on the planet. (IMO) The problem is, the only the planet will ever appreciate them is after they’ve been ‘pushed into the sea’.

Its an eminently debatable question as to who the Saudis hate the most, Isreali Jews or Iranian Shi’ites. That, plus the fact that the Saudis know deep down that Israel has no pretensions about ruling the entire Middle East...

The blathering multitudes who parrot opposition to Israel are so uninformed as to the real danger from Gaza and Hamas it just makes you sick. I pray for that courageous little country who is my friend and ally that God has their back protecting Israel from the vile enemies who have spent eons on the wrong side of that argument.

Why would any one in Israel or SA release this information?

The world probably finds it hard to believe.

However history tells us They have allowed just this to happen against another Islamic nation.

I think the Saudis sit with feet on two sides of the fence. Their world and the western world.

I also think money will be their deciding factor. Plus they want to be the most powerful Islamic nation, as well as THE leader of the Islamic world.

Just because the media prints it doesn't mean anyone actually released anything. The media just makes stuff up to sell papers.

My guess is that fear is the motivating factor here. It's hard to imagine that the Saudis fear Israel as much as they do Iran.
