I think it would be good for America to unite and say, We worked together to prevent that problem in the Gulf from happening again. It is easy to do so, and I wish the President would choose that path instead.

Interesting, but somewhat ill conceived. (IMHO) Consider:
-There is no such thing as a 20 Billion Dollar environmental insurance policy - if there was, it would probably cost - 20 Billion Dollars.
-The current technology employed on these rigs exceeds all known human engineering endeavors - with the exception of aerospace technology. The suggestion that “double piping” is a solution displays a rather pedestrian understanding of what failed in this case.
-Raising legal liability to 50 Billion (from 75 million) is tantamount to a moratorium.
The author “would like to see us change direction in energy.” To what ?
This incoherent babble about “green energy” is frustrating. It doesn’t exist. Have those who propose massive solar installation never heard of “night time ?”
- oh yeah, and that a lot of time people use their lights - at night.
To suggest we limit our use of coal, oil, gas, and nuclear; is tantamount to asking someone who has jumped out of a plane to limit his use of a parachute - hey just figure out a new technology - I’m sure you can come up with something.
