I would agree to the idea that anything that cannot survive real world market constraints should not be supported by tax dollars, but just because a program is “private” that it is good.

Planned Parenthood is “private” but intensely evil in its design. Vasectomies are never a good thing. They prevent the birth of needed children, and they do great physiological harm to the victim (sperm antibodies can make you deaf, paralysed, cause parkinson-like tremors, etc.)
