I met old President Bush once, when he was still Vice President. The Bushes all had good manners.
I don’t think Bam has the cahonies to personally confront anyone. Bush never thought twice.
I'd love to trace all that money he got back to it's source and find out just how much Europe and China donated to his election (Oh yeah, and add all of South America to that too)
They might have made some lousy choices but they were nice people. Comparisons with Bam show what a little man Bam is.
Yes.
And I still love the fighter jet landing on the carrier and Bush striding the deck in his flight suit.
And the strike he threw while wearing a bulletproof vest at the first MLB game after Sept. 11th.
None of these things are stand-ins for right policy. But it did feel good to have a serious man in the White House.
Not only that, Bush could talk off the cuff very well. Because he knew what he knew and he believed what he believed.
Yesterday I saw a news clip of Obambi talking at some WH meeting. I began to wonder, why is the camera angle so close-up and so careful not to move, even cutting off the people on either side? I realized it was probably because TOTUS was set up and the WH didn’t want TOTUS in the shot.
Some of his policies should have made the left cheer, Republican or not. They didn’t. I think they couldn’t stand him BECAUSE he was very masculine and not a metrosexual.
One of my first thoughts on Sept. 11th was “thank you, God, that Bush, not Al Gore is President.”
Yup...THAT was a memorable moment.
I will never forget the way the President, without deferring to ANYONE, just stepped up to the problem and took control of the situation. “O” would still be consulting with the Human Rights Commission about what to do and Bush had it in hand instantly....no questions asked.
THAT is a man of action and clear thinking!
BTW-I do not think the Bush Presidency was perfect, but then again, I never have that expectation about any President. In any case, Bush was not a double-dealing, mendacious and incompetent bungler who sold himself to our enemies. He was worlds better than that as a man and a leader and much more.
I am certain that the straight-forward and honorable character of President Bush along with his decisive and cold resolve, when the circumstances required it, will be recalled with pride and appreciation - if not by all and immediately, then certainly by many in the end. Nothing can efface or diminish that kind of personal and professional excellence. We were lucky!
A thought just occurred to me. LOL Compare Bush in Chile with Bam killing the fly. ROTFL
To this day Chris Matthews tells the audience how global public opinion of the US under Obama has improved dramatically. At the same time he calls critics of Obama in the US irrational haters, we are all birthers to him.
We were indeed! And Bush heard us when we were angry. Bam hears us and tries to belittle us.
The Left hates ANYTHING that is not ambiguous and ambivalent because they see it as a threat to their amorphous moral nihilism.
Excellent observations.
That describes it in a nutshell.
Oh, don’t get me started! ;)
You are right. In that, “O” is like Carter. HE didn’t know what the h^%$ to do with power, either!
These liberals do NOT comprehend power, wealth or decisiveness. Oi vehhhh!!!
I live in a town with a history of mafioso types that goes way back. Any one of THOSE guys would make a better and more efficient leader than “O”... THEY understand wealth, power and decisiveness!!!! They get things done (albeit, illegal things) they know what WORK is, and stand by their pizzanos.
Matter of fact, if “O” insists on getting, keeping and flaunting disreputable associations, he would do better to cultivate friends in the mafia instead of that tribe of treasonous tin-horns which sponsored him into the Presidency!!
This was a point I made over and over again when arguing with the "there's not a dime's worth of difference between the candidates" crowd.
Even if that's true (and it never is), there's still an advantage to having an R rather than a D in the WH -- because the R is more likely to at least pay attention to conservative viewpoint and might even be persuaded by it from time to time. The grassroots were angry over the Miers nomination; Bush pulled it; we got an excellent Chief Justice.
Let's see what happens when we oppose Kagan.
