WASHINGTON, June 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Task Force on Space Industry Workforce and Economic Development has launched an interactive website to encourage public comment on ways to promote economic growth and sustainability in Florida's Space Coast region as it adapts to changes in America's space program.

The site offers valuable information about the work the administration is doing to create jobs in the region by fostering a more supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

"We consider the new interactive website an important tool to understand public concerns and challenges about the economic growth and well-being of Florida's Space Coast," said Woodrow Whitlow, NASA's associate administrator for the Mission Support Directorate in Washington. "This tool and our other outreach efforts will help the task force prepare recommendations for the president that reflect the greatest needs and concerns of both the public and the area's aerospace-related industries."

Why think about this so early? Why don't they wait until after the Shuttle program is shut down and then figure out what to do with the crashing economy on the Space Coast? What a bunch of idiots. Look at history. When the Apollo program was over, the Space Coast died. It is happening again and NOW they are asking for ideas on how to revive the economy.......Just getting rid of BO et al will do wonders, IMO.

As a member of the unemployed on the Space Coast, I have no hope. Thanks for the post.

You want a moon base, the idea is so simple to implement.

Pass a simple tax law that stes that any company is exempt from taxes on the earth as long as they can establish a permanent colony on the moon that must grow by two people or more per year. Put in that Other companies can get the same benefit if they help fund at least 15% of their taxable income to the company actually doing the colonizing.

Repeal some of the dumb treaties the UN passed on property ownership on bodies and replace it with a “You colonize it, you get a radius of 50km around your base” type of law.

Boeing, Lockheed, Other Arespace companies and Associates etc would have a moon colony established so quickly it would make you head spin.

This would be the first step to a true Wagon Train to the Stars.

My Idea would Supercharge the Space Coast as all those private areospace firms would be clamoring to use the Cape Facilites and the Government could rent them back tot hem and make money to boot.
