Civic education, American exceptionalism focus of Palin’s speech
The Turlock Journal ^ | June 26, 2010 | Alex Cantatore

After months of anticipation, legal battles, and protests, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited Turlock on Friday where she delivered a speech on civic education and American exceptionalism before a sold-out crowd at California State University, Stanislaus’ 50th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser.

Tuxedo-clad men and women in their finest dresses packed the Main Dining Hall at CSU Stanislaus Friday evening for what CSU Stanislaus Foundation Chairman Matt Swanson termed the “greatest meal in the history of the campus.”

But while the meal was memorable – a caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes, seared scallops and savory mushroom risotto, and frozen chocolate soufflé – the highlight was Palin’s speech.

Civic education; what a concept!

We need this kind of leadership more than ever. The high school juniors I worked with this year can’t tell me who Thomas Jefferson is. They will be voters in two years!

God, continue to bless her and her family as they try to bring her down as she exposes evil.

Good vs. evil

Her speaking fee was not disclosed, but I think we can figure it out more or less, based on the gross and the net.

I'm a Sarah Palin 'fan' and believe she represents the true conservative middle-class of America, the people who 'make the country work'.

The genius types may have the best inventions and the rich may fund the engine of capitalism but the working middle class are the majority and the locomotive of capitalism. I believe Sarah Palin embodies those folks, and I count myself among them. She is bright, energetic, lives the moral and political values she espouses and has a winning personality that captures peoples attention when she speaks. That the left hate and despise her speaks volumes to me.

Whether Sarah Palin chooses to run for president in 2012 is still an open question but she has the kind of can-do, patriotic spirit we need in our leaders in these troubled times. By 2012, the nation will desperately need to rebound and heal from the ravages of Obama and a Democrat congressional majority that has done great damage to the foundations of our country.

In addition to the severe economic problems and the destructive socialist schemes imposed on America and our needlessly fractured relations with long-time allies while kissing up to oppressive regimes that hate our guts and do nothing to return our expressions of amity, our colleges are practically left-wing propaganda mills and the public schools are an embarrassment on every level. The 'mainstream' media has become totally useless and is suffering the economic consequences of becoming nothing more than a propaganda arm of the Democrat party, dominated by liberals.

The list of damages done during the Obama administration and the decades prior, when liberalism took hold in America, is lengthy and the negative impact on our country is huge, but we can rebound, although not immediately. A conservative president, even Sarah Palin, cannot instantly reverse years of damage to America but she could move us forward and away from the horribly failed leftist ideas that were accepted, incrementally, by many Americans and that paved the way for the disaster that was the 2008 federal election that gave us Barack Hussein Obama and a Democrat majority in congress.

Perhaps Sarah Palin has no intention of running for president but while we await that decision, her presence on the national scene is refreshing. That she drives the left mad is a bonus.

I love Sarah. That comes from loving her message as well as seeing her face adversity and fight for that in which she believes.
Do I think she’s ready to be president? I think she could be a wonderful president at some time. Is this the best time for her?
That depends on who else throws their hat into the ring to run against BO.
I would rather see Sarah continue giving speeches (raising $$)and supporting candidates for at least one more term. She is so good at this, she needs to take over and run the RNC.
After that time, then she will have shown all in this country that she is what we need in the WH.
But, we don’t have anyone stepping up to the plate that I feel would be better than Sarah, so far.
I do trust in the Lord that He will guide and direct those who ask Him. I ask Him daily to help heal this country and help us be free of BO’s destruction.

If you really want to turn back the progressives than you must have Sarah as pres in 2012. All the other repubs are insiders and believe in “progressive” goals. Sarah believes in the Constitution and Liberty, the only way to go.

I thought it was great that she began her speech checking to make sure she had her water and her bendy straw. ;o)

She stuck it to the nattering nabobs for making such a big hairy deal about that!
