I don't either. In the middle ages, children left their parents when they were 5 or 7 and were indentured as trade apprentices. In most countries in this world a 16 year old is considered an adult and treated as such. By the time a child is 16 in many third world countries, they have been working full time for 10 years.
I look at this as an American challenge. Sure she could have been killed, but then giving your car keys to a 16 year old on a Saturday night is probably just as dangerous.
I know a lot of 16 year old kids who were killed or maimed because their parents let them borrow the car on a weekend night. You don't see them in the headlines when they are fished out of their car by the jaws of life.
How many of these nannny stater critics ever let their children use their car on a weekend? I did. I trusted my kids to act like adults when they were 16. I guess maybe I should be jailed?
Did you send your kid out in a car that wasn’t ready to be driven?
How about giving your 16 year old daughter a ticket to Europe and saying "see you in 8 months"......
