I must say as somebody who has lived in Bay Ridge (Lebanese/Yemeni Muslims) and Astoria/Long Island City (Bangladeshi Muslims), I find the immigrant Muslims to be considerably less obnoxious then black American converts (I once live in Chicago’s Hyde Park, very close to Farrakhan’s house). I should also say, however, that the only person who tried to convert me was Tunisian, and he considered the NOI and its offshoots to be laughable heretics.

A couple of years ago we took my son to Philly when he was looking at colleges. I couldn’t believe how many women were walking around in burkas. I saw mostly black muslims.

This will be the sign of the future - the conversion of these “muslims” is going on in the prison system (i.e., Malcolm X...) a complete over-reaction to the distruction of the family in the black community. Black men go “muslim” and black women go along for the “security” hence the wearing of head gear and burqas.
This is why the fact that the Obamanator’s being of muslim heritage didn’t bother a lot of the black community during the election...IMHO
