As Scott points out in the post immediately below, the news that President Obama tasked NASA head Bolden, as perhaps his foremost mission, with raising Muslim self-esteem is entirely absent from the New York Times and the Washington Post, as well as the nightly newscasts of ABC, NBC, and CBS. Why? Bill Otis argues, persuasively I think, that it's because this news is potentially devastating to Obama:
The reason the MSM has the lid on NASA's new "mission" to snuggle up to Islam (in between decapitations and floggings) is that it would be devastating to Obama if it became known. On the surface, the new NASA "mission" seems merely screwball, and thus a small story. But I think it's a good deal more than that. It shows that Obama's thinking is unrecognizable to the average person. It also shows that he's unserious -- frivolous, really -- about something that made a generation of Baby Boomers take pride in their country. How many millions of people sat in their junior high auditoriums and watched the Alan Shepherd and John Glenn launches? How many millions more were up at midnight on July 20, 1969 to watch the first human being, an American, put his foot on the moon?
When the domestic roots of skepticism about America (and sometimes flat-out anti-Americanism) were being laid -- in the 60's assassinations, the Vietnam War, and the exposure of the country's treatment of blacks -- the one thing in which we all took pride was the space program. So for Obama, it's now one thing that needs to be perverted. Making it a dumbed-down PR front for Islam is, in its way, a genius move for this purpose. But as the MSM recognizes by its silence, it's a bridge too far.
A lot of people out there haven't heard of "American exceptionalism," or, if they have, aren't too sure of what it means. But they have a good intuition for it: It is, among other things, but quite importantly, the excitement and pride they felt when America did something the human race had wanted to do since it looked up at the night sky. Space exploration took on added luster for our generation because it was so in keeping with the natural optimism, bravado and energy of our youth.
Under Obama, NASA has ended plans to go back to the moon, or go to Mars (something also underreported). Budgets are tight, you know. Time to hunker down and lower our sights. But we can do Muslim outreach.
This is a window on the kind of thinking Obama does. Were it widely known, it would be devastating: We will put away what has made the country a beacon, and act like the small, repentant ex-bully Obama takes us to be. Thus the rockets get mothballed as The Great Satan starts to make amends by printing comic books celebrating Arab contributions to trigonomety 4000 years ago, or whatever it was.
"You'll be able to keep your own insurance" was the most important political lie of the last year. But NASA's new mission is the most revealing truth. The MSM understands this, which is why it's been so resolute in keeping it out of sight.
“Wow. This makes the Obama administration look like a pack of Muslim-loving lunatics! Run this story! STAT!!!”
Uhmmmmm.... No.

York draws the conclusion: “If you were to receive your news from any one of these outlets, or even all of them together, and you heard about some sort of controversy involving the Obama administration redefining the space agency's mission to feature outreach to Muslim countries, your response would be, ‘Huh?’ Among all the news these distinguished outlets have seen fit to cover in recent days, the NASA story has not made the cut.”

And yet we see here at FR ad nauseum about a deathwatch for the MSM. The MSM is vibrant, alive, and full of health. Watch and read at your own risk.
Not the only story so-called “Main Stream Media” has tried to snuff.
Good. A few more of these and they’ll be out of business. N.Y. times (”All the news we feel you need to know”) is losing more and more circulation every day, along with the rest of them.
Yet they’ll be all over the Bob Inglis story
Well, if I were a Muslim, I'd be scratching my head at the news and wondering, “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. We can't make things work out where we are, and you're looking to take it to outer space??? Freakin’ great. We're thinkin’ Mosque at Ground Zero and you think we're ready for Mosque on Mars. Freakin’ wonderful. What a guy!” Once again, that's just me.
“Under Obama, NASA has ended plans to go back to the moon, or go to Mars (something also underreported).”
Actually, under Obama, NASA has ended, period.
Obama is a ‘dream killer’ and nation destroyer. There is no honor within that disgusting Muslim.
I just wish I could find one of my grandmother’s hat pins. I’d stick POTUS in the A$$ to jolt him back to reality. He’s so out of touch, he probably is numb back there, too.
Jon Stewart managed to cover this story in a way that made me want to throw up.
First clips were played from Fox, (the only outlet covering the story), and most of the clips made Fox look silly. Ok, the clip of Doocey required no setup, Doocey makes Doocey look silly.
Next, a clip was played of President Reagan proposing cooperation in space ventures.
Stewart then took the two fer and mocked Fox and Reagan.
Clearly it’s apples and oranges. Reagan was proposing cooperation with a country with a space program, not a religion that only used technology to trigger bombs.
Secondly, I’d love for Jon Lebovitz to go ahead and cooperate and reach out to some muslims. I’ll pay for his ticket to Afghanistan.
Stewart can be wickedly funny, but it seems everytime I give that POS a chance, he’s twisting something else in a way I can’t tolerate.
Stopped watching him YEARS ago. Too smug and aggravating with his agenda. I’d rather cut my toenails.
Rush said something today that rings loud and true.
I can’t quote him, but it was something like this, “America ‘may’ survive Obama, but America ‘can’t’ survive the idiots that put him in office”. He went on to say that these people must be kept in the minority or America will not survive.
God save our country....
“Doocey makes Doocey look silly.”
A dope. His kid is working for them now.
2nd generation dope.
Undoubtedly many Dems, especially elected ones, wake up every morning thinking “what really stupid thing did he say or do yesterday?”
I am late to this story, so excuse any ignorance. I understand there might be opportunities to work with muslim-majority NATIONS as we have worked with other nations on space programs. BUT is this initiative specifically targeting islam - A RELIGION!
What about separation of church and state!? Could you imagine a liberal leader suggesting more outreach to Hindus, Christians or Mormons?
Next you know, Hussein will have the FDA declare that it's "partnering" with the Christian Scientists to develop new cancer therapies. And he'll order the Atomic Energy Commission to team up with the Amish.
Regards,
“NASA Chief: Obama wants me to Make Muslims “Feel Good” About Themselves...”
If we can reach out to Muslim communities to send a Muslim to the moon, then one day we can work together to send all the Muslims to the moon.
May as well give the Muzzies space capability Klinton gave the Chicoms our missile guidance systems.
