Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer appeared on Brian Kilmeade's radio show where he discussed Howard Kurtz' recent profile of him in the Washington Post.
In the profile, Kurtz wrote, "Hemmer is supposed to kick off the straight-news stretch of Fox's daytime schedule at 9 a.m. But the bookings on the two-hour program, and sometimes the story selection, tilt markedly to the right. The first solo guest on every show but one, from June 1 through July 2, was a Republican or conservative."
"I think viewers need to understand...how many phone calls [our bookers] make every day trying to get Democratic lawmakers to come on our program," Hemmer said on the show. "It is not without effort. We welcome anyone on our program. Nancy Pelosi? Harry Reid? Here's the red carpet, man...Listen, our door is wide open. To anyone in the Democratic Party who wants to come on and share their views on 'America's Newsroom.' Come on, we welcome you."
The main reason why dems do not appear on Fox News Sunday shows are the following:
1. They know they will be asked tough questions and redirects when they don’t answer them
2. They are scared shitless
3. They know their lies, misinformation and statistics will be challenged and exposed
They don’t come on Fox because they ask them tough questions, and they know they’re going to be made fools of. I can’t say I blame them.
After Megyn Kelly’s excellent TKO yesterday, I wonder if Kirstin Powers will be back anywhere on Fox. The exchange brought tears to my eyes. Whew!
I think Fox should start a new show, Dems, Libs, and Progressive guests only, with a host like Joy Behar or someone of the liberal persusasion (I know, it’d be tough to find one)...set up so it couldn’t be more favorable to the Libs. Bigtime cushy access to the power Fox airwaves without any nasty ole Conservatives around...
But the guests and the host has to sit on a dunking tank and the audience is wired up to Frank Luntz’s magic meters. They go too far into the twilight zone, and kersplash! Negative reinforcement! It’d be a smash, I tell ya...
Dems don't worry about appearing foolish. Being foolish comes naturally to them.
Can you imagine what happens to Mr. Kelly when he messes up?
What was an excellent cat-fight, I gotta say it. Best since Maureen O’Hara and whatsername in “North to Alaska”.
OMG!! I just had a vision like theater of the mind moment featuring Barney Frank!
Makes me wonder why he’s so lenient on Democrats. I’m gettin to the point I can’t watch him anymore.
Hemmer should have a daily display of people who have been invited who have either refused or have not returned a call. He should start with Kurtz. Maybe Kirsten Powers will show if she has recovered the world class beat down she got.
Kirstin is usually moderate but yesterday she was pissed off from the get go.
“Can you imagine what happens to Mr. Kelly when he messes up?”
Maybe he gets spanked. . .
I could imagine that.
I think that her world-view of mono-directional racism (only Whites can be racist) has been shattered, and she's not quite able to face that yet.
She's typical of those that have spend too much time in our leftist education system, and not enough time in the real world.
I concur with your opinion that it is very likely an agreement between (most) Democrats to spurn any invitations to appear on Fox News as a way to avoid being asked questions they can't or don't want to answer and thus, allowing them to make the false claim that Fox is 'biased' against Democrats because few Democrats appear on the network. Cute.
Fortunately, Fox News does have quite a few Democrat/liberal guests, usually former Democrat party or Clinton officials and some left-wing commentators, such as Dr. Mark Lamont Hill, who is occasionally borderline loony but who is refreshingly forthright about being a liberal. Most of the Fox News shows have liberal guests and the pure commentary shows, such as the O'Reilly Factor, have representatives from the liberal/Democrat side on almost every show.
The false accusation from the left that Fox News is 'biased' stems from the obvious fact that they present both sides and, yes, they 'lean right' a bit but nowhere close to the way the 3 TV networks, MSNBC and CNN 'lean' left. Fortunately, Americans are catching on to the 'mainstream' media's leftward bias and abandoning it in large numbers. Meanwhile, Fox News is growing by leaps and bounds. That indicates a shift in viewing habits and validates the premise that Americans are sick of one-sided 'reporting'. Fox News is careful not to go too far 'right' and so they disappoint some conservatives, like me, sometimes, but they retain their hard-won credibility by doing so.
One of the things I really appreciate about Fox News Corp is the number of lawyers they have as anchors or co-anchors. These folks know how to interrogate a witness and stick to the point of the story -- much more valuable than a J-school grad.
Kirstin normally does appear somewhat more moderate, but she has been drifting left over the last few weeks as if trying to fill the honorary Alan Colmes chair (the one with the IV Koolaid drip from the DNC).
The line from Kristin’s Democrat friends at Media Matters and MSNBC is that, “This is an old story” and “FOX is beating a dead horse to stir up the extreme right”. Some of the things she said were word-for-word.
It must be something personal between her and Megyn. Powell came into that session with an attitude and a mean sneer on her face.
STOP!!!
:)
You mean like Geraldo's weekend show?
