Yesterday's violence in Nuevo Laredo caused people to rush across our bridges in fear. Now today, Mexican officials are confirming what happened, saying at least a dozen people are dead and many other are wounded--including some children. Video off of youtube.com reveals the sound of gunfire in Nuevo Laredo. In a recent statement, the Federal Interior Department said nine suspects were killed as well as two civilians and one soldier. The Associated Press says 21 people were caught in the crossfire and are wounded, including three children.
There have also been reports of shooters opening fire on a school bus, and drivers being hijacked in different parts of the city. The U.S. Consulate in Nuevo Laredo issued a warning saying there were reports of grenades being used. They've asked everyone to stay indoors until further notice.

This is becoming a daily occurrence.
I used to go there regularly as recently as the 90’s.
I would never go near the place now.

Please call this what it was. It was not a shootout. It was a combat operation by narcoterrorists. Se debe llamar la Frontera Gaza del Rio.
God help the people of Mexico-caught between narco-terrorists and their own government. We can sympathize...
