From the article:
Despite the horror of having her own father murdered by the Klan and a cross burned on their lawn in 1965, Sherrod calls for all of us working together, and transcending racial appeals.
All I have to say about this is that I am sick about the only people in this country who can be considered racists are White Conservative Men. When I was younger, the friends that I was with at the time and I were attacked on two different occasions for nothing more than being white. Among the injuries were a few broken noses, a few black eyes and some bruised ribs. A police report was filed after the second attack with ZERO resolution. But to this day, I remain anti-racist but am continually called a racist now on a daily basis. Complete crap.

Her father was murdered by the Klan? Shirley initially said he was killed by a white farmer ... and at one point, that it was in the midst of a dispute of the ownership of some cows. Doesn’t sound like the Klan to me.
