Did she ever say one bad thing about Hayworth?

How long will this worn out bashing last? It’s the same tactic McCain uses to bash Hayworth about that stupid commercial Hayworth was in.

Let me help you out, since you don’t live here. Hayworth had already quit his 250,000 a year job as a popular radio talk show host, and everybody with a lick of intelligence knew he quit to run for the Senate. EVERYBODY. That is not even a good straw argument.

So if Palin must be perfect, then McCain is correct to keep bashing Hayworth on one commercial, right? I guess we shouldn’t vote for Hayworth according to that logic. If you criticize Palin for endorsing the man who chose her as a running mate [only one time, and distancing herself from him later], and that is damnable, I suppose Hayworth should never run either. We should find a protest vote somewhere I guess. Maybe write-in Tancredo in AZ or something.

” So if Palin must be perfect, .....blah..

It is disheartening to see someone of your intellect resort to this.

This is Palin

1) McCain

2) Fiorina

3) Steele

4) amnesty

5) Carbon Credits

No thank you.

1) McCain [Agreed.]

2) Fiorina [There’s a point. Did Fiorina’s oppenent have a shot when Palin supported?]

3) Steele [You expect her to lead an attack on the RNC chair? If Hayworth also doing that, you would have a point.]

4) amnesty [She’s supporting the AZ law repeatedly. Your criticism there is debatable. Is Hayworth accusing her of being pro-amnesty?]

5) Carbon Credits [Please elaborate.]

” 2) Fiorina [There’s a point. Did Fiorina’s oppenent have a shot when Palin supported?]”

Absolutely.

” 3) Steele [You expect her to lead an attack on the RNC chair?”

No, I would expect her to keep her big mouth shut, which she seems constitutionally incapable of doing.

” 4) amnesty [She’s supporting the AZ law repeatedly. Your criticism there is debatable”

Let us debate it then. She is for amnesty, only its “Palinamnesty” which is even more disingenuous, and also against the law.

Off to church, catch you larer for debate on the rest.

I’ll concede 2 and 3. You whooped me. I’m not convinced that she’s for amnesty.

But my general point still holds true. Our Founding Fathers also made horrible mistakes, far worse than anything Palin ever did. If they were alive today, should they be driven from modern politics too?

This is what really concerns me. Many good, bright, and hard working Palin supporters have given up on this forum. They’ve gone to another forum. They are good people who believe in someone who inspires them to do good work. Is that the goal here? To run Palin supporters off? The same could be done to Hayworth supporters over that stupid commercial.

I cut both Hayworth and Palin some slack. I cut Newt some slack. I’d choose Palin over Newt in a primary, but I don’t want Newt supporters driven out of the forum. Should Dick Morris be run off talk radio? He’s far from perfect, after all. Terrible miscalculations. I like him. Heck, I like Ralph Nader. He’s wrong about almost everything, but he knew enough to not worry about Al Gore losing. God bless him for that!

“Palin gave her word that she would campaign for McCain during the presidental run.”

Are you saying that both McCain and Palin assumed they were going to lose the race for POTUS, or that this was a hypothetical pact (almost as bad)?

I think as long as we’re respectful, we should be able to argue political points and philosophy back and forth, without it being perceived as running anyone off. I think sometimes the true Palin supporters believe that we should all be 100% behind her, when we’re not yet convinced and she’s given us many points at which to pause.

Hey, I want to see Gov. Palin succeed as much as is possible - including being the first female POTUS, if that’s in the cards. But like it or not, she is polarizing figure, even to us conservatives, and it is incumbent upon her to unite her base if she attempts a run at POTUS. Further the liberal media has savaged her, and will continue to do so, and they have created of her a polarizing litmus test figure for right and left to have to navigate. Perhaps that shouldn’t matter, but it makes supporting her fraught with an automatic litmus test/battle at the very outset. I’m not saying this is fair - but it is reality.

Lastly, SP doesn’t have a ton of experience - after the joke of a POTUS we have in office now, will Americans, including the key independent vote, support another untested commodity, however well intentioned, in 2012?

Asking these questions of breadth, strategy and political philosophy, ought not to scare away Palin supporters (hey I’m partly one of them) from FR. Political theorize away - just don’t expect people here to treat you with kid gloves! ;)

2008 was McCain’s arrogance on national display. He thought he didn’t have to work to earn the votes of the American electorate. In the end, Zero did a better job of selling his lies and snake oil to the dumbed down American voter than did McCain.

Thank you for the explanation

For all our sakes, let’s pray enough AZ voters decide REAL change is a good thing, and vote for JD Hayworth.

Amen!

no, I am saying that McCain was backed into a corner. He either went along with the “deal” or it would be used against him. McCain ,like obama had a backup plan just in case he lost.

“I think sometimes the true Palin supporters believe that we should all be 100% behind her, when we’re not yet convinced and she’s given us many points at which to pause.”

I haven’t noticed a single Palin supporter who was rah-rah over the McCain endorsement, which was a long time back by the way. Nor do I see rabid hatred of my governor McDonnell of Virginia for endorsing McCain.

He cut Hayworth some slack for his mistake, and rightly so. What about Palin? Can we at least give her the same leeway we give JD?

“But like it or not, she is polarizing figure”

So was Reagan. And by the way, he chose Mr. Voodoo Economics to be his running mate. Uups. I guess no one should have voted for Reagan. He selected lousy Supreme Coutr justices. Nope. We should have never considered Reagan, right?

“Further the liberal media has savaged her, and will continue to do so, and they have created of her a polarizing litmus test figure for right and left to have to navigate.”

They did the same to Reagan. Yeah, we should ask the media who to support.

“Lastly, SP doesn’t have a ton of experience”

If they want an insider to run, I’d be surprised.

“Asking these questions of breadth, strategy and political philosophy, ought not to scare away Palin supporters (hey I’m partly one of them) from FR.”

No, that isn’t what drove them off. This did:

PALIN IS CAMPAIGNING FOR MC-CAIN. LOOK AT THOSE ADS. [Re-runs from way back.]

PALIN IS CAMPAIGNING FOR MC-CAIN. LOOK AT THOSE ADS. [Re-runs from way back.]

PALIN IS CAMPAIGNING FOR MC-CAIN. LOOK AT THOSE ADS. [Re-runs from way back.]

PALIN IS CAMPAIGNING FOR MC-CAIN. LOOK AT THOSE ADS. [Re-runs from way back.]

PALIN IS CAMPAIGNING FOR MC-CAIN. LOOK AT THOSE ADS. [Re-runs from way back.]

PALIN IS CAMPAIGNING FOR MC-CAIN. LOOK AT THOSE ADS. [Re-runs from way back.]

[That’s what ran them off. If you like that kind of repetition, you’ll enjoy the forum.]

“Please read post 112, and lets be done with it.”

So what names did I call him? And I suppose conservatives should never have chosen to President Washington. He was too close to Hamilton and John Adams, both of whom were tyrants. In fact, the Constitution itself is tainted — we should not have signed it because Hamiliton and Adams were tyrants. That is still the logic of Palin bashers. Although you nailed me on details, my general point stands.
