Political handicappers at The Cook Political Report have changed their assessment of North Carolinas Seventh Congressional District from Solid Democrat to Likely Democrat.
Thats a positive sign for the Ilario Pantano camp, who faces incumbent Democrat Rep. Mike McIntyre in the November election.
Heres a comment from National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jon Thompson, who sent out an email about the switch:
Its no surprise political analysts are starting to take notice of Ilario Pantanos strong challenge to Mike McIntyre. After all, he already has, as evidenced by his unusually early TV ads. After recently being outraised by Ilario by an almost 2-1 margin, its clear that McIntyres support for Nancy Pelosi and inability to create jobs has finally caught up to him. The people of southeastern North Carolina are ready for someone who will fight for them, and Ilario Pantano has proven throughout his life that hes that person.
Pantano raised more money in the most recent reporting period than McIntyre, but the incumbent still has much more money to spend.
I’ve read that McIntyre isn’t as bad as most of the ‘Rat Congressmen.
That’s like saying one cancer isn’t as bad as another.
I love Ilario. I read his book several years ago; he is one tough dude.
Ping
I live in the county of Mike McIntyre’s district in North Carolina, and I can tell you that he is pro-life and voted against ObamaCare, BUT he voted for the stimulus fiasco.
I encourage you all to pick up the DVD “Warriors in Their Own Words” produced by the LOOC Foundation and narrated by Kelsey Grammer. It features Lt. Pantano, USMC prominently.
If his campaign continues to pick up steam, just wait for the leftists to attack Ilario based on his past - actually, they’ve been doing it already, but just wait for it to go national. They’re just dying to expose their own hatred for our military.
I presume Mulvaney is waiting until before the election to unleash ads ?
I guess so. His mention of not having advertised yet was a couple months back (when the poll showed they were already in dead heat), so that could have changed, but I don’t see any evidence of ads on his website, just mailers.
bttt
BTTT, for a good man.
We didn't even have to wait for the left. Immediately following Pantano's victory in the Republic primary his leading Republican opponent attacked him over his actions in Iraq - terming him a loose cannon and a murderer.
Mike McIntyre is a good and decent man. I know him personally and have worked with him on various issues. He is, unfortunately, a captive of the Democrat machine both here and in Washington. He will vote mostly conservatively on most issues to please his constituents, but on those big, critical national issues which revolve around and determine which party will control and set the national agenda he will always fall in line and follow whatever orders Pelosi requires of him.
That evil lock on power must be broken. As his first campaign slogan stated "I like Mike!", but for the good of my country I'll be voting for Pantano.
Mike McIntyre is as respectable as a politician gets. He is honest, Christian, conservative, pro-life, and pro-military. He is the only democrat I have voted for the past 8 years (all my time in Wilmington). I would be surprised beyond words if Pantano beats him.
You can’t be an authentic pro-life person and have voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House.
Sounds like you are still going to vote for him. Did he vote for the latest Financial Reform Bill? Did he vote for Cap & Tax? If you cant get him out of your pocket, what good is he on the others?
It all goes back to an object lesson I learned many years ago. It only takes one Oh $h!t moment to erase a book full of atta boys.
90% votes with his party, nuff said. Kinda blows out his claim to be a conservative now doesn’t it?
LOL- good one.
