I have always loved JT and have almost every one of their CD’s.
So glad to see that I do not have to burn them! /s
Your comment is definitely showing your age or lack there of.
If you listen, listen to his older stuff. 70's 80's
Jethro Tull’s sounds were fantastic. The lyrics, not so much.
Isn’t one of their members some transgendered freak? The best message they’ve brought recently is “Kids: Don’t do drugs”...
Nice - thanks for that. BTW - what do you think the future medium of choice for music is or should be? CD and MP3 - surely we can do better, no?
One of the features of the website lists band members past and present. Not sure if any of them is transgendered or not.
I saw Jethro Tull about 30 years ago. One thing I do recall is that Ian Anderson was quite adamant about not having his picture taken.
They made an announcement prior to the show that anyone taking pictures would be tossed out. I wonder if that's changed over the years.
Find the album with Bungle in the Jungle on it. Note the date it was produced. Then throw it in the garbage and search for anything older than that.
I’m in my late late 40’s, but I never did listen to a lot of rock when I was younger; classical mostly and I worked all the time!
I'm sure I have lost some hearing cranking up "Aqualung" when I was in my youth............ Hah
I went to see them back in the 70’s. Somebody threw up on me.
” He does, but I think his current wife is a NYC born and bred Leftwing nutjob artist. Maybe he just wants peace at home. “
That would surprise me. Ian is not a liberal, nor has he ever been. Also anti-drug. He snatched a baggies of reefer from a ptron in the front row at one of his concerts, and squished it into dust.
Yep, interesting behind the scenes story of his remastered Aqualung. Some cool stories about Ray Charles, too.
Music mediums?
MP3 is VERY low quality
16-bit CD is much higher quality than MP3
24-bit/96Khz downloads are darn close to master tape quality
Because there are so many CDs out there, the CD player will be around for quite some time...with some new technology.
CD players are beginning to add USB inputs to accept the new 24/96 downloads. This will also keep CD players relevant for many, many years
Music servers offer great convenience BUT all have very poor sounding DAC processors. Most servers now offer USB or SPDIF digital OUTPUT to send to a separate, higher quality DAC or CD player with digital INPUT
I’m waiting for a server that uses SSD for higher quality reading of file due to no moving parts (i.e. standard HD)
Self promoting plug for my business - a new (to US market) French digital products (CD players & DACs) and integrated amps. The digital products are the best I have ever heard incl the $45k-85k digital products I also import and offer USB & SPFIF digital inputs to use with hi-rez computer based audio files. Affordable State-Of-The-Art!
The integrated amps are world class, too in sleek, contemporary chassis.

Keep in mind that not all wack job leftists do drugs. In fact, some of the craziest ones I've know have been fitness freaks who put nothing “chemical” into their bodies.
Oh, I see what you are saying, I was responding to the comment about Elvis Costello, not Ian Anderson.
The listing of former members is a nice touch. I found it interesting to see that some folks dropped out of the music scene. One guy works with elephants, another is a painter, several have passed away.
No harm, no foul ;-)
I see. Thanks for your reply. So to summarize, the best is 24-bit/96Khz encoding along with a DAC that is not a weak link. I can think of 2 questions -
Where does one get the 24/96 downloads?
How does one determine if a DAC is any good or not?
Thanks again.
