From Chief of Naval Operations Public Affairs
WASHINGTON (NNS) — The Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead extended the following statement on the events in Afghanistan:
“The deepest sympathy of the entire Navy is with the family and friends of Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin McNeley, who died from wounds sustained in Logar Province, Afghanistan, Friday. We appreciate all the coalition forces have done to bring our shipmate home, and we know they continue to do everything they can in the search for Petty Officer 3rd Class Jarod Newlove, who remains missing. I remain extremely proud of the thousands of US Navy Sailors serving on the ground in Afghanistan today, and the tens of thousands who have deployed to Afghanistan during the past nine years.”
Prayers to the families of these Sailors. Prayers that the surviving MIA Sailor is found safely.
Praying with you in agreement.
In Jesus’ Holy Name.
Amen.

“US recovers body of missing sailor in Afghanistan”
By BILL ROGGIO
July 27, 2010
SNIPPET: “The body of the sailor was recovered in the Charkh district in Logar province, which is just south of the capital of Kabul. “The body was found from Nawshahr village in Charkh district on Sunday afternoon,” the provincial spokesman told Xinhua.
Charkh is a known Taliban stronghold in Logar. The two US soldiers are reported to have accidentally driven into the Taliban-controlled region on Friday after departing their base in Kabul.
The Taliban claim to have captured the other US sailor, but have not released any evidence proving they are holding him at this time.”
Amen to that. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all, and for the safe return of our missing warrier.
Prayers for his safe return.

Allegations of Civilian Casualty in Logar Province Are False
Compiled from International Security Assistance Force Joint Command News Releases
WASHINGTON, July 27, 2010 The International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan was made aware today of allegations in the media regarding a civilian casualty incident in the vicinity of Charkh district, Logar province, according to military officials.
After conducting a thorough investigation of the alleged attack on Afghan civilians, Regional Command-East officials have determined the allegation is false.
“None of our operational reporting supports this unfounded claim,” said U.S. Army Maj. Patrick R. Seiber, the public affairs director of RC-East.
Terrible that another serviceman is in their hands. WHAT WAS THE NAVY DOING IN THE AREA???????? Not much water anywhere there.
We have every branch of the military represented here doing a wide variety of "work". The fact that there's "not much water anywhere there" is an asinine statement.
Take a few minutes and think about it.
It will come to you.....
What is the rank petty officer third class? E-? Thanks in advance no disrepect I don’t speak Navy.
PO-3 = E-4
He could have been special ops; he could have been supporting intelligence, aircraft, communications, etc; he could have been an IA (individual augmentee) - basically sailors assigned to land-based support of Army infantry.
WHAT WAS THE NAVY DOING IN THE AREA???????? Not much water anywhere there.
The USN Seals are very active in Afghanistan.
there was a soldier who got taken months ago, what happened to him seeing as the media ignored the story like they usually do if it affect their dear messiah
SEAL’s probably (Navy special forces, Sea, Air, Land = SEAL)
In the NAVY, your rate is your job (BT2 - Boiler Technician, 2nd Class Petty Officer is your RANK).
There is no CORPORAL in the Navy.
