It doesn’t matter how conservative you are in terms taxes and business, if you can’t get control of the socialist spending. Big government equals big debt.

You bet...Coast to coast, governments at all levels are completely out of control...

The Obama administration wants Perry out and is willing to do what they can to get rid of him.

They are sending the EPA to close down refineries in Texas...that will help slow down the economy of the state.

And Perry is turning down federal money because of all the attached strings...

I love the fact that he keeps turning down federal money, and in the long run, the state's economy will be better for it.

The Dems want Perry to look bad so they can get their boy White in there.

I'm voting for Perry until someone better come along.

I know, yours was good. You went with a food similarity. I went with a ‘we can survive without what you illegals think we can’t live without’ angle.

Texas budget shortfall widens to $18 billion

If I remember correctly approximately 75% of the Texas budget goes to two items: Health/Human Services and Education. With an estimated $18 billion deficit and being a few months out until the Legislature convenes to adopt a budget we may well see the shortfall rise.

Look for increases in fees/taxes/services/etc. Maybe Obama can find another few billion to help this time around like he did in 09 with $12 billion.

Has Texas’ RINO governor vetoed all the attempts by the overwhelming Republican legislature to cut off health care, schools, welfare, and other taxpayer funded freebies for the illegal alien hordes? (Wondering - - I don’t follow Texas that closely.)

If illegal immigration costs AZ roughly $1.3 billion a year, what is it costing TX?

Not yet but he has said that he’d oppose the Arizona law.

Gee, what do we have in common with California?

Exactly!

I'd bet in CA alone, illegals are costing the citizens 5 billion per year.

ca doesn't have a budget. Any reference to a budget is follie. ca politicians are too busy spending money they don't have and funding unions and special interests to waste time on a budget that could constrain them. kind of like the fed gov’t that has adopted the same strategy

Did you see the article on Dallas Parkland Hospital?

If not, you should read it.

Let’s do something really radical... Let’s privatize education.

Yea, that is nothing but a mexican welfare benefit now. It has been going on for about two DECADES. The illegals talk about "Parklando" all the way down to the border.

And folks in Dallas wonder why the property taxes are sky high...

Gee, what do we have in common with California?

A RINO in the governors mansion and a lot of Kalifornians living here?

My property taxes were doubled this year! I think we Texans need to start chopping the fat from the educational system that is feeding off of us, and drop a lot of entitlements.

The Texas Legislature will begin their biannual meeting in Jan. 2011 to adopt the next two year budget and other legislative things. The Texas Senate is Republican by a large majority but the House is only 77-73 Republican. This fall election is important to maintain that majority.

Democrat footprints are all over this.

And of course they will now be pushing for a state income tax to get us out of this mess.

Of course, THEY didn't create the mess, the taxpayers did dontchaknow.

Texas is nothing like California. This is just fodder for White and the income tax crowd.

Promoting an income tax in Texas should be grounds for deportation.

Same in LA...They've choked off the hospitals along with everthing else...

The disrespect for Americans and our citizens by Mexico and Mexicans could not possibly be any greater or any more in your face..

And yet these people come up here and constantly make demands and threats while gang raping our entire system? Then our own corrupt government forces us to pay for all this?

Can I be honest?

It's f'ing unbelievable...
