MIT students helped WikiLeaks suspect, hacker says

(CNN) -- Adrian Lamo, the former computer hacker who tipped off federal authorities to WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning, says two men in the Boston area have told Lamo in phone conversations that they assisted Manning.

Lamo said both men attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but he refused to identify them because, he said, at least one of them has threatened him. One of these men allegedly told Lamo they gave encryption software to Manning and taught the Army private how to use it, Lamo said.

Manning, an Army intelligence analyst, is being held in solitary confinement at a Virginia detention facility. He is charged with leaking an airstrike video that the whistleblower website WikiLeaks published in April, and Pentagon officials say he is the prime suspect in last week's disclosure of thousands of field reports from the war in Afghanistan to the site.

Why is Lamo spilling his guts? Any thoughts as to why?

this whole thing is beyond disgusting...

Self centered narcissistic Aholes! all of them.
They all can not do anything worthwhile in life and want to have their 15 mins of fame.

I so wish we could try and excute the whole bunch.

authorities no doubt traced something to him...Good. I wish these cretins would just all kill each other!

I am so mad, and so frustrated, cause there is really nothing we can do as retribution or for justice.

"Why is Lamo spilling his guts?"

He's not "spilling his guts" if that was meant imply that he had anything at all to do with the leaks.

All the news reports indicate that he is a completely separate party that has taken an interest in things and been helping the authorities.

I wonder how many lives will be lost? This is treason and should be treated as such.

Why do people think Lamo had anything to do with this?

He's the threat analyst that has been working with the authorities to investigate the leak.

Gates said Assange is immoral. So are these guys. A war is on. No one will miss a few more enemy bodies in a Boston landfill.

I read that Manning contacted him first, so he is still hanging in those circles.

Being held in Virginia detention facility. Is it too much to hope he's in the brig at Norfolk Naval?

Yes, he's a cyber-threat analyst.

Have to agree with you about everything except that MIT students are extraordinarily accomplished academically and MIT grads generally go on to very successful careers.

And, in this case they have aided and abetted treasonous acts anonymously, so sure as hell aren’t looking for 15 minutes of fame, or even to be known. They’re intelligent enough to know that when/if their identities are revealed, they will be expelled from MIT and any career prospects will vanish faster than a Duke lacrosse player.

Hopefully, their ID’s are revealed before the beginning of the new school year, and their next few years in court. Then the gallows.

No idea. The only thing that occurs to me is that maybe it is a phenomenon similar to an arsonist who returns to the scene of the fire to watch. It seems the perp can’t help himself sometimes. There may be a crazy, insatiable desire to get in on some of the limelight.

Why waste them in a landfill, they have spotted three great whites off the shores up there. Paint them orange a sprinkle a little cheese on them and make sure they have smiles on their faces.
