Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) on Tuesday added their voices to GOP calls for congressional hearings into altering the Constitution's 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants.

McCain said Tuesday the he supports the concept of holding hearings.
In a statement issued Tuesday afternoon, McCain expanded on his terse comments from earlier in the day, saying that the Constitution is a strong, complete and carefully crafted document that has successfully governed our nation for centuries and any proposal to amend the Constitution should receive extensive and thoughtful consideration.
Congressional hearings are always warranted when members of Congress raise the issue of amending our Constitution, he added.

McCain, who helped lead the charge in 2007 for a comprehensive immigration bill with a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants, has taken an increasingly hard-line position as he faces a conservative primary challenger in a state that has become ground zero for the nation's battle over immigration reform.
By calling for hearings, Republicans can stave off the issue while appeasing conservatives who are eager to see legislative action.

According to the Pew Hispanic Center, citizens who are children of illegal immigrant parents grew to 4 million in 2008, up about 1.3 million from 2003.

while you are at it, why not amend Article 2, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution that absolutely makes clear what a Natural Born Citizen is.

McCain is an idiot. There is nothing in the 14th amendment requiring the US to give US citizenship to the children of illegal aliens born in the US.

1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
What part of "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" do you not understand Senator McCain?
