MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Chattanooga attorney Chuck Fleischmann has won the GOP primary in southeast Tennessee's 3rd Congressional District.

With 95 percent of precincts reporting, Fleischmann had 25,820 votes, or 29 percent of the vote, to former state GOP chairwoman Robin Smith's 24,968, or 28 percent.

Fleischmann won the endorsement of former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and mostly self-funded his campaign.

Chuck is conservative on all the conservative issues...

He might be good for the 3rd district...

I’ll be getting behind him...

I voted for my sheriff Tim gobble...

But Chuck will be more welcome to the district than Robin would have been...

Robin Smith was endorsed by the Club for Growth and the Eagle Forum.

Those two groups generally don’t endorse RINO’s.

Nobody who calls American citizens BIGOTS, RACISTS, and ANTI-IMMIGRATION because they called Corker and Alexander to tell them to vote AGAINST the AMNESTY Bill is a conservative in my book...

Nor is a person who would ORDER an American citizen to NOT call their elected officials in Washington...

Would you put such a liberal idiot in office ???

I wouldnt...

I disagree! Fleischmann is just another rich attorney who bought his seat. He was self funded and hired Chip Saltsman, the Huckabee presidential campaign manager, to run his campaign. Those two things should set off warning bells for true conservatives. Saltsman called in some favors and got the Huckabee endorsement for Fleischmann. Robin came up through the Republican ranks as TN party chair, but was not a RINO. Yesterday was a sad day when two rich candidates, Fleischmann and Haslam, were able to buy their seats with slick campaigns and negative ads. It seems like campaigns are now won on the basis of who can afford to hire the best PR/Advertising company.

The idea that a Jew lawyer could be any sort of a conservative is kinda laughable.

"A Jew lawyer"? Don't like the Jooz, eh?

former state GOP chairwoman Robin Smith's

Are all the state GOPs RINOs? (I'm from MA -- 'nuff said! We're never offered a conservative to vote for, and the state party seems to discourage and work against conservatives.) Anyone know of a state with a solidly conservative GOP party apparatus?

I hope you’re right. The Club for Growth endorsed Robin Smith, and Huckabee endorsed Chuck. I will virtually always support the Club for Growth and their candidates over Huckabee, but hopefully he’s ok.
