The First Lady is in Spain - and they adore her.
It's a huge trip, at huge expense, but it's paying off in goodwill - at least over there.
Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha, 9, were greeted by smiling crowds chanting "Obama" and "guapa," which means beautiful, as they spent the first full day of their adventure touring a cathedral in the city of Granada.
They were cheered again when they tried to beat the Andalusian heat by hitting one of Granada's popular ice cream parlors.
Mother and daughter - and their entourage of pals, aides and Secret Service agents - are spending five days in the sunny homeland of bullfighting and Picasso.
President Obama and older daughter Malia stayed behind in the U.S.
The Obama delegation - many of them staffers and agents - booked half of the five-star Hotel Villa Padierna, a luxury hotel on the outskirts of the swanky resort city of Marbella, where rooms go for anywhere from $341 to $6,500-a-night.
The White House has defended the vacation as a "private trip" and insists the First Lady - and her friends - are paying their way. Taxpayers will foot the bill for the army of Secret Service agents and the estimated $148,000 tab for the First Lady's round-trip flight aboard Air Force Two.
Some right-wingers have complained about the cost and the wisdom of such a trip in tough economic times, but there was no grousing from the Spaniards.

I pass by local food banks, medical clinics, assistance organizations everyday and see lines forming very early in the morning. Juxtapose those lines, time of day, status of the people lined up with their "savior's" wife on holiday, both privately when convenient and publically when there's some ass-kissing publicity needed, and you have the makings of what drove the French Revolution, at least in sentiment.

It’s hard to beleive the stupidity of American journalists sometimes. Why don’t we bill the whole trip to the Spaniards and see if they grouse like those crabby right-wingers.

What’s not to like (from the locals’ point of view)? She and her retinue come, inject money into the local economy, and leave. As MO & Co. are powerless to inflict any “help” on them policy-wise...
I believe that the Obamas are eventually going to have to answer for their beliefs and their behavior, if not on this earth most certainly before the Living God.

Seriously? The writer wrote this sentence, looked at it, and decided to keep it in?
Of course the Spaniards aren't grousing, they are the benefactors of all the money being spent without incurring any costs, genius (or more accurately...geni-*ss, as my mother used to say occasionally)
